The Honda CB300R has a bunch of subtle updates in its latest guise

Honda surprised everyone with the unveiling of the BS6-compliant CB300R at the India Bike Week 2021. Though we still are a month away from the launch of the Japanese naked, here’s a closer look at the bike with all the important details:

The Honda CB300R’s design remains largely unchanged, and it still continues with the same CB1000R-derived neo-retro styling. However, there are a few subtle aesthetic changes to the bike like the darker finish to the tank shrouds and anodised gold finish for the USD fork.

Like once would expect from a neo-retro bike, the Honda CB300R features a classic round shape for the headlight. However, it flaunts LED lights and even DRLs.

Honda has continued with the same LCD display from the previous model. Though the unit is crisp and packs basic info like trip meters, a fuel gauge, a gear indicator and fuel consumption readouts, it lacks modern features like smartphone connectivity.

In typical Honda fashion, the locations of the CB300R’s indicator and horn switches are interchanged as compared to other bikes, and this might take some time getting used to. That said, the finish seems top notch.

The Honda CB300R packs the same 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, however, it now develops 31.PS at 9000rpm and 27.4Nm at 7500rpm. For reference, the older model made 30.4PS at 8000rpm and 27.4Nm at 6500rpm. The new bike also benefits from a slipper clutch.

Honda has deployed a 41mm USD fork from Showa and a link-type monoshock to handle the suspension duties.

Dropping the anchor on the 146kg machine is a 296mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear aided by IMU-governed dual-channel ABS.

The Honda CB300R runs on MRF Revz 110/70- R17 tyre at the front and a 150/60-R17 unit at the rear.

The Honda CB300R BS6 will hit the showrooms in January 2022. There's no word on the pricing yet, but the Japanese bike maker will be manufacturing the bike locally, so we expect it to be priced around Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which would be Rs 9,000 more than the previous model.
