Benelli has commenced the pre-bookings for its smallest ADV, the TRK 251 in India for a token of Rs 6,000. The Itali-Chinese bikemaker will reveal the price of the bike later this month, followed by deliveries in January 2022.

The Benelli TRK 251 looks like a scaled-down version of the Benelli TRK 502. So, you get a similar twin LED headlight setup, an ADV-style beak, big tank shrouds. However, unlike the bigger sibling, the TRK 251 features LED indicators integrated into the tank shrouds.

Benelli has used a liquid-cooled 249cc single-cylinder engine for the TRK 251. It develops 25.83PS at 9250rpm and 21.1Nm at 8000rpm, which is lower than the 250 Adventure’s 30PS and 24Nm. The TRK 251 features a six-speed transmission.

This engine is nestled in a steel trellis frame suspended onto a 41mm USD fork and a monoshock, offering 135mm and 60mm of suspension travel respectively. The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with road-biased tyres. The bike packs a 280mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear.

The Benelli TRK 251 features a big 18-litre fuel tank, with a kerb weight of 176kg, it isn’t that heavy either. Furthermore, the bike’s 800mm seat height makes it accessible for shorter riders as well.

Benelli hasn’t equipped the bike with fancy features. The TRK 251 features a simple LCD instrument console with no connectivity features. The bike only gets dual-channel ABS, which unlike the KTM’s bike is not switchable.

Given India’s newfound love for adventure motorcycles, the Benelli TRK is a fresh alternative to the KTM 250 Adventure, priced at Rs 2.35 lakh, or even the Royal Enfield Himalayan which bears a price tag of Rs 2.10 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi).
