It’s the brand’s premium family e-scooter with quite a few practical touches

C12 MaxR

BGauss has launched its new C12 MaxR scooter in India, with an introductory price at Rs 1,45,990 ex-showroom. This makes it the brand’s flagship electric scooter. Here is everything you need to know:

Design

C12 MaxR

The BGauss C12 MaxR, while being a family-friendly scooter, looks pretty modern with several sharp design lines. This is a refreshing departure from the Max C12, which has a neo-retro look. It also looks the part of a conventional scooter rather than one on stilts like the BGauss RUV 350

The scooter gets a rectangular, handlebar-mounted LED projector headlamp instead of the round LED unit featured on the BGauss Max C12. The turn indicators are embedded into the apron, giving the scooter a minimalist yet practical design.

On the practicality front, the scooter gets a wide floorboard and a hook to hang your bag. It also gets a long, flat seat, which should comfortably accommodate two adults. There is also a large grab rail that should be easy for the pillion to hold on to.

The BGauss C12 MaxR is available in 4 colour options: Sparkling Wine with Champagne Gold, Pearl White and Saint Black.

Battery & Motor Specs

BGauss C12 MaxR

BGauss has equipped the C12 MaxR with a 3.8 kWh battery pack, which gives out a maximum IDC (Indian driving conditions) claimed range of 178 km.

The swingarm-mounted electric motor produces a peak power output of 4.2 kW, and the scooter has a top speed of 75 kmph and can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in 5.3 seconds.

The charging port is positioned on the apron, making it easy to plug in the scooter without having to open the seat. Along with this, it features a cubby hole for added practicality. It gets a 750 W charger, and it can charge from 0-80 percent in 3 hours and 50 minutes. Whereas a full charge from 0 to 100 percent will take 5 hours and 15 minutes.

The battery, motor, vehicle and charger gets a standard warranty of 3 years or 50,000km, whichever comes first.

The scooter gets a dedicated ride mode button and features 3 riding modes: Eco, Ride and Sport. These let the rider choose between performance or range according to their convenience.

The scooter rolls on 12-inch front alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and a side-mounted rear shock. Braking hardware comprises a 220 mm front disc and rear drum brake.

The scooter gets a pop-up seat that automatically lifts up using two hydraulic struts. It also gets an under-seat light, which is useful while accessing the boot in dimly lit places. It also gets a hidden storage compartment with an additional lock to store your valuables, a dedicated compartment to keep a small umbrella, and another dedicated compartment for the tool kit and the first aid kit.

Also, it gets a dedicated reverse switch, which comes in handy when manoeuvring the scooter in tight spaces.

Safety features include Parental Lock, SecureLock, SOS, side-stand motor cut-off, FallSense, vehicle health checks and DigiLocker connectivity.

ZigSays

The BGauss C12 MaxR is the brand’s attempt at tackling the fast-growing conventional family-friendly scooter segment in India. It tried with the super practical RUV 350 that was designed to tackle bad roads, and now it seeks to make an even better impact with the new electric scooter. That said, the pricing is pretty expensive especially considering the fact that the brand does not have as widespread presence as other legacy manufacturers.

The scooter will go up against the Ather Konarc, Ather Rizta, Bajaj Chetak C3502, Vida VX2, TVS Orbiter, and the TVS iQube.
