BREAKING: Jawa 42 All Stars Launched: Gets Some Significant Updates

Jawa 42 All Stars has been launched in India with a bunch of changes including new colours, wider tyres, and tweaked underpinnings. It’s priced from Rs 1,84,942 (ex-showroom), and still  retains its familiar retro-modern styling. Here’s everything you need to know:

Familiar Design

The updated Jawa 42 has design changes that make it stand apart from the previous model. For starters, both the fenders are now shorter. The side panels are also new, and have new graphics. The headlight is still circular, but gets a domed lens without a grille, and looks more retro than before. 

Even the seat has been redesigned and looks much slimmer than before -- Jawa also says the foam thickness and firmness have been tweaked to improve long distance comfort. While the wheel sizes remain the same, they too are redesigned. 

It still gets twin exhausts, but they are upswept now, and look sportier.

The biggest visual change are the new colour schemes. Jawa has introduced 5 new shades with the updated 42, giving buyers more options than before.

The new colours include All Stars Nebula Blue, All Stars Moss Grey, All Stars Battle Green, All Stars Ivory, and All Stars Black. 

Our favourite of the bunch is the All Stars Battle Green shade, as it gives the 42 a particularly distinctive look while still retaining the motorcycle's classic character.

Same Engine

The updated Jawa 42 continues the 294.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. In its current form, this motor produces 27.2 PS and 26.3 Nm.

The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and gets an assist and slipper clutch.

Underpinnings

The updated Jawa 42 retains the same basic chassis but the brand states that its stiffness has been tweaked to improve the bike’s handling. Same goes for the swingarm.

It has a telescopic fork and twin gas-charged shock absorbers. The motorcycle rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, with wider 100-section tyre at the front and a 150-section tyre at the rear.

Braking duties are handled by a 280mm front disc and 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS offered as standard.

The Jawa 42 has a seat height of 795 mm -- up by 7 mm. The motorcycle gets a 13.2-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 175 kg (kerb) -- almost 9 kg lighter.

Features

The Jawa 42 retains its relatively simple feature list, with the focus remaining firmly on its retro styling rather than an overload of electronics.

The motorcycle gets LED lighting, a digital/analogue instrument console, and dual-channel ABS.

Price And Rivals

The updated Jawa 42 is priced from Rs 1,84,942 to Rs 1,89,942 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

It will continue to compete with motorcycles such as the Honda H'ness CB350, Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Triumph Speed T4.

The Jawa 42 All Stars has some considerable changes that are aimed to improve the riding experience. However, how they actually affect the bike remains to be seen till we get to ride the bike. However, with the changes, the bike looks fresh without majorly changing its core persona.
