The spyshots reveal details including the design, bodywork, and more importantly, the iconic ‘thump’ is very much present in the exhaust note!

Royal Enfiel Classic 650 - Front and Side

The upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 650 has been spotted testing yet again. The spy shots reveal details including the exhaust note, and also give us a clearer look at the bike’s design.

The Classic 650 looks very similar to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It features the same design language, with the chrome peak on the headlight (Royal Enfield calls it the ‘Aerovisor’), signature “Tiger Eyes" pilot lamps, and bulb-type indicators. The characteristic teardrop fuel tank has also been retained, as has the encased metal assembly for the round taillight.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 features the same 648cc air-/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine that delivers 47.45PS and 52Nm, though the engine tune could be relatively relaxed to suit the Classic’s easy-going nature. It is equipped with twin horizontal peashooter exhausts, which sound different from its other 650cc siblings. That said, it retains the iconic thump of a Royal Enfield bike, but with a faster beat.

The spied Classic 650 is equipped with a telescopic fork with similar metal fork sleeves as the Classic 350, and gets twin rear shocks. It also has metal front and rear fenders. The upcoming Classic 650 could feature 18-inch spoked wheels with tube tyres at both ends. Braking is handled by a 320mm front and 300mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard, also seen on the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 and Super Meteor 650.

Expected to launch in late 2024 or early 2025, the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is likely to be priced at around Rs 3.2 lakh (ex-showroom). There aren't any direct rivals for the Classic 650 at the moment. However, the Kawasaki Z650RS and Moto Morini Seiemmezzo pose as the closest retro alternatives but cost Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively, significantly higher than what we are expecting for the Classic 650.

Previously, the Classic 650 was spotted testing alongside the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650. Check out our story to know more.
