Royal Enfield Classic 650 to launch on March 27, 2025 in India
Gets a 648cc parallel-twin, air-cooled engine which makes 47PS and 52Nm
Expected to be priced at around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom)
Royal Enfield is all set to launch the Classic 650 on March 27, 2025 in India. The motorcycle was first unveiled at the 2024 EICMA motorshow in Milan, Italy. We even got the opportunity to ride the motorcycle last year but the manufacturer has been silent on the launch date ever since.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has a beautiful retro vibe and looks similar to its younger sibling, the Classic 350. This allows the Classic 650 to stand out from the other RE 650cc models and looks very good. The build quality, fit and finish levels, and paint quality levels are top-notch and give the bike a premium appeal.
It is powered by the same 648cc parallel-twin, air-cooled engine as the Super Meteor 650, which makes 47.4PS at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5,650rpm, and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The performance is quite linear and has good low-end grunt which makes it easy to ride in high gears at lower speeds. The bike gets a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It has disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Despite having a long wheelbase, the bike handles quite well. It has a massive kerb weight of 243kg which keeps the bike planted in corners but is a major hurdle when handling the bike at slower speeds and in tight parking spaces. It gets a 19-inch front and an 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup along with MRF tyres which provide a decent amount of grip.
The Classic roadster gets an analogue instrument cluster, a small digital display, a USB charging port and an integrated tripper navigation pod. The console is quite basic but goes well with the retro vibe of the motorcycle.
The Classic 650 is an excellent motorcycle for anyone who is looking to upgrade from their Classic 350 to a much more powerful motorcycle but with a similar retro design. We expect the Classic 650 to be priced at Rs 3.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up against the BSA Gold Star in India.
