BSA gave us a sneak peak of the Gold Star ahead of its official reveal

Classic Legends-owned BSA Motorcycles is all set to make a comeback at the 2021 NEC Birmingham Motorcycle Show on December 4. The first bike will be the BSA Gold Star, a moniker that has been resurrected after 70 years. And before the official unveiling, here’s us taking a closer look at the iconic British brand’s new bike:

Just one glance at the BSA Gold Star, and you know it is a true-blue British bike. From the old-school circular headlight to the long tank and the flat seat, everything harks back to the British roadsters from the ’60s. BSA has made a tasteful retro motorcycle with clever neoteric elements, including a USB charger.

The BSA Goldstar flaunts a neat-looking twin-pod analogue instrument console. Look closely, and you’ll notice the Jawa-style reverse speedometer. There’s also a small digital inlay in each pod, likely for the fuel gauge, temperature gauge, trip meter and other vital information.

Powering the BSA Gold Star is a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, likely to be a 650cc unit. The chrome and brushed-metal finish on the engine adds to the retro appeal, complemented by the pea-shooter exhaust. A closer look at the details on the engine is reminiscent of the Triumph Bonneville T100.

The BSA Gold Star is equipped with a telescopic fork at the front and preload-adjustable dual shocks at the rear.

For Braking, BSA has provided disc brakes at both ends, with a Brembo caliper at the front. Like a true-blue retro motorcycle, the BSA Gold Star runs on wire-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres, which we first saw on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.

The Gold Star will initially debut in the United Kingdom and a few foreign markets. But given that the BSA bike was spotted on test in India, the possibility of its Indian debut cannot be ruled out. We expect the bike to be priced at around Rs 5 lakh.
