Unveiled with great fanfare at the just concluded 2016 Auto Expo, the Innova Crysta is a comprehensive update to the ageing yet much beloved Innova MPV. Although it is slated for a May or June launch – still some time away – Toyota dealers have revealed that they have started bookings for the Innova Crysta with a minimum down payment of Rs 40,000. Toyota however, hasn’t said publicly whether they have endorsed these bookings.
Riding on Toyota’s new Toyota New Global Architecture, the Innova Crysta is significantly larger than the old Innova which translates to much more in cabin space. The wheelbase though, at 2,750mm, is identical to the current car. The premium feel has been carried over to the interior as well and features a dual tone layout with silver accents and leather upholstery. It also features climate control, voice command, Bluetooth connectivity and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Toyota hasn’t divulged the engine specifications in the Crysta yet, but we reckon it will be powered by two new engines, mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed auto box. The car comes in three variants and the top of the line variant will come with all aforementioned convenience features and seven airbags whereas three airbags are standard across the range.
