From a scrambler to a hardcore rally replica, Enfield has some serious adventurous plans

It is no secret that the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the next hot model from the company, and will be followed by the Scram 450. But now, a presentation from an investor meeting reveals that this will just be the start.

Royal Enfield will be first launching the Himalayan 450, likely in the third quarter of 2023, with the Scram 450’s debut scheduled in early 2024. These two bikes will be the base for three more models.

The Royal Enfield Scram 450 would be an accessible and friendly alternative to the Himalayan 450, on which the more hardcore Scrambler 450 would be built, flaunting bits like a raised front fender, a flat seat and a high rear fender. Going by the silhouette, the bike also seems to be packing a Scrambler-like raised exhaust and wire-spoke rims.

Interestingly, there’s also a cafe racer that will be spawned from the Scram 450. A liquid-cooled 450cc engine with almost 40PS in a sporty retro package? Sounds tempting!

But that’s not the only interesting bike from the Chennai-based brand. The Himalayan 450 will have a more serious sibling. Going by the image shared in the presentation, it seems to pack a navigation tower, a flat seat and wire-spoked rims with knobbies. Is this the bike that will kickstart Royal Enfield’s Dakar dreams? Well, we sure hope so.

The Royal Enfield 450 platform is a big step for the company, and, with its modern architecture, a deviation from the current crop of air-/oil-cooled engines. With the Himalayan 450, the company will make its first move to capture the mid-displacement ADV segment that’s gaining popularity across the globe.
