The Sikkim Expedition wasn’t just about getting from one place to another. It was about settling into a rhythm that the mountains quietly dictate. Eight days of riding, waking up with the sun, and letting distance and daylight decide everything.

Starting from Siliguri, the transition was gradual. The air changed first, then the roads, and finally the scale of the landscape. As we climbed toward Zuluk, the mountains began to assert themselves. Tighter hairpins, thinner air, and views that demanded attention even when the road didn’t allow it. Riding the route felt timeless, with prayer flags, silent valleys, and roads that seemed carved into the mountains rather than built on them.

Nathula Pass and Baba Mandir carried a different weight. These weren’t just scenic points – they were places layered with history, emotion, and quiet reverence. Tsomgo Lake offered contrast: calm, cold, and still, forcing you to slow down and take it all in.

Gangtok brought movement and colour back into the journey before the pace softened again through remote towns like Yangang and Pelling. Kanchenjunga dominated the skyline there, appearing and disappearing with the clouds, reminding you who truly runs the show.

As we descended toward Soreng district, and back into West Bengal (Kalimpong hill station) –  familiarity returned, but the feeling didn’t. What stayed was the rhythm: cold mornings, silent riding stretches, shared fuel stops, and conversations that only happen after long days on the road.

This wasn’t just a trip across Sikkim. It was eight days of being fully present – on the bike, in the mountains, and in the moment. And here’s how everything came together to make a ride of a lifetime.
