BREAKING NEWS: KTM Duke 160 Launched In India, Yamaha MT 15 Rival

KTM has officially launched the all-new 160 Duke in India at Rs 1,84,998 (ex-showroom), making it just Rs 3,968 more expensive than the bike it replaces, the recently discontinued 125 Duke. For a small price hike, the KTM offers a host of goodies, and  here’s all you need to know:

  • Gets the typical KTM design language 

  • Has aggressive tank extensions 

KTM Duke 160 Launched In India

The KTM 160 Duke inherits the aggressive design language of the last-gen Dukes, featuring a muscular fuel tank with sharp extensions, a sleek split-seat setup, and a bold LED headlight flanked by signature LED DRLs. The exposed trellis frame and minimal tail section add to its streetfighter appeal, while fresh graphics and colour schemes add to its hooligan-friendly character. That said, it is the Silver Metallic Matte colour scheme which looks the best of the lot.  

A More Powerful Successor

  • It is powered by a 164.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine

  • Makes 19PS at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500 rpm (4.5PS and 3.5Nm more than the 125 Duke)

  • Shares its chassis with the 200 Duke

  • Suspension and wheel setup are similar to that of the RC 200

  • Gets a 320mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm disc brake at the rear

  • Ground clearance is 174mm while the kerb weight is 147kg 

  • Has a fuel tank capacity of 10.1 litres 

2025 KTM 160 Duke

The new model addresses the biggest criticism of the Duke 125, its relatively low performance for the price, by bringing a healthy boost in power. Though it is more powerful than the bike it replaces, there is still enough power difference with its elder sibling, the 200 Duke. The power bump also gives the new baby KTM a much-needed edge in performance while also putting it ahead of direct rival, the Yamaha MT-15, in terms of outright power.

Features - A Decent List

  • Gets an LCD instrument console

  • Has all-LED lighting

  • Supports smartphone connectivity, which allows call and SMS alerts, music control, and turn-by-turn navigation

  • Gets dual-channel ABS, which is switchable for the rear wheel

KTM 160 Duke

Even though the Duke 160 has all the basics covered, looking at the segment, its biggest rival offers a a bit more (TFT Console and switchable traction control). That said, the lack of these features aren’t really a deal-breaker as such. You don’t really need traction control on such a small capacity bike, unless you do reckless small-capacity-brain things.  

Final Thoughts

With the launch of the 160 Duke, KTM now has a sharper and better-balanced entry point into its lineup in India. It replaces the 125 Duke as a more performance-focused, yet relatively accessible bike, while still leaving enough performance headroom for the 200 Duke. Overall, the Duke 160 is a great motorcycle on its own, and is a capable contender in the 150-160cc segment after the Yamaha MT-15. However, the MT-15 seems to be the least of the baby Duke’s worries. 

KTM Duke 160 Launched In India

You see, the Hero Xtreme 250R (priced at Rs 1,79,000 ex-showroom, Delhi) is not only about Rs 6,000 cheaper, but also offers MUCH better performance, and a pretty decent set of features. That said, you’ll have more street cred, and will feel more like a ‘Hero’ with a KTM than umm… well, a Hero. If you’re unfazed by what others think, then the Hero offers excellent value for money - at least as far as the spec sheets are concerned.
