The recently launched 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid stands out as the first hybrid 150cc bike in India. It goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V, which is a sporty commuter from the Hosur-based manufacturer. Here’s how both bikes stack up against each other in images.
When it comes to looks, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid stands out with its muscular looks. The bike gets chunky looking tank extensions with a contrasting small-looking headlight that make the bike feel large. The chunky exhaust, muscular tail section and the fat rear tyre make it look very sporty. .

The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V on the other hand features a simple looking headlight section along with aggressive-looking tank extensions. The twin rear shock absorbers, slimmer rear tyre give it a sporty commuter appeal rather than a streetfighter vibe.

Overall, both bikes have remained more or less similar to their respective predecessors. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as the bike’s familiar design has been loved by many, and is in fact one of the USPs.
Powering the Yamaha FZ-Fi Hybrid is a 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which produces 12.4PS and 13.3Nm. As part of the hybrid package, the bike features a starter-motor-generator which offers battery-assisted acceleration along with a silent start/stop system. The silent start stop system would turn the engine off when idling, which in theory should increase the bike’s fuel efficiency. The engine can be turned back on by engaging the clutch.

The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V on the other hand is powered by a 159.7cc engine which outputs 16.04PS and 13.85Nm. The bike offers 3 riding modes (segment-first) which modulate the level of power and torque along with the level of ABS intervention. In the Sports mode, the bike’s full power and torque is available, with minimal ABS intervention.

On the Urban and Rain mode, the ABS intervention is higher, and the engine only outputs 13.32PS and 12.7Nm. The Apache RTR 160 2V has more power on offer and the addition of riding modes gives the engine a lot more versatility. It makes it more suited to riding in different kinds of conditions.
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid features a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup, whereas the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V gets a telescoping fork and gas-charged twin rear shock absorber setup.

In terms of braking hardware, the FZ-S Hybrid 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V on the other hand has a smaller 270mm petal disc at the front and a 200mm petal disc at the rear, on the disc variants. Overall, in terms of underpinnings the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid has a slight advantage on paper in terms of braking hardware.
When it comes to tank capacity, the Apache RTR 160 2V has a 12-litre tank, whereas the Yamaha FZ-Fi Hybrid has a slightly larger 13-litre one.
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid gets a colour TFT console with smartphone connectivity and related features such as call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation via the Yamaha Y-Connect App. Along with this, the bike also gets a traction control system as well.

In addition to the aforementioned riding modes, the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V gets a relatively simpler-looking LCD instrument console. The console offers connected features such as call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation via TVS SmartXonnect technology.
So in terms of features, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid’s features are primarily focussed towards fuel efficiency and safety whereas the Apache emphasises on a safe but involving performance - something which enthusiasts might appreciate.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Disc BT variant is offered at a price of Rs 1,28,020 (ex-showroom Delhi), whereas the Yamaha FZ-Fi Hybrid comes at a price of Rs 1,44,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a difference of Rs 16,780.

Which bike you should go for depends on what you are looking for. If you’re someone who wants a more premium model which can promise better fuel efficiency along with advanced safety features such as a traction control system then the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid makes more sense, provided you’re willing to pay the massive premium.

But if you're looking for a value for money proposition, which can offer better performance along with an equally impressive set of features then the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V will be the choice worth considering.
