2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid has been launched in India
Gets a hybrid assist and new features
Priced at RS 1,44,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Yamaha has launched the 2025 FZ-S Fi Hybrid bike in India. It is available in a single variant priced at Rs 1,44,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi). That’s Rs 10,000 more expensive than the regular non-hybrid version. The bike gets a hybrid assist and a new TFT display. The bike was unveiled at Auto Expo in January.
The 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid shares the same design language as the non-hybrid FZ-S Fi V4 motorcycle. It gets a beefy fuel tank with large extensions, an angular LED headlight and a single-piece seat which makes the bike look very sporty. It is available in two colour schemes: Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey.
The 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid shares the same 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as the non-hybrid version. It is now OBD-2 compliant, makes 12.4PS and 13.3Nm, and is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Hybrid version gets a starter motor generator and a silent stop/start system which allows for quieter starts, battery-assisted acceleration and claims to improve fuel efficiency by shutting off the engine when the bike idles.
The bike gets a telescopic fork and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The fuel tank capacity is the same as the non-hybrid version and is 13 litres. The ground clearance and seat height are the same as well, 165mm and 790mm respectively. The kerb weight has gone up by 1kg to 138kg.
The 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid gets a 4.2-inch TFT display which supports smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-connect application. It allows for call & SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, and music control. The app also shows ride telemetry figures such as fuel consumption, maintenance tracker, rev dashboard, and more. Rider aids include single-channel ABS, traction control and side-stand engine cutoff. The bike gets an all-LED lighting setup as well.
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid goes against the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and the Honda SP160 in India.
The new Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid seems promising, as it is India’s first 150cc hybrid motorcycle. Yamaha has been focussing on making the FZ more efficient since the past few years. It is no surprise that Yamaha chose to hybridize it first. For reference, the 2023 Yamaha FZ-S V4 returned a real-world tested city mileage of 70kmpl. It won’t be wrong to expect a higher number from this.
This is the same hybrid system which we have seen in Yamaha’s other two-wheelers such as the Fascino 125 Hybrid and the RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid. In our RayZR tests, we found out the hybrid scooter has better 20-50kmph roll on acceleration as compared to the non-hybrid version. The Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid returned a tested mileage of 71kmpl in the real world which is quite impressive.
