TVS recently launched the 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V, giving it a fresh dose of styling with a gold-finished inverted fork, three new colour schemes, and a single-piece handlebar. Priced at Rs 1,53,990 (ex-showroom Delhi), it remains one of the most feature-packed motorcycles in its class. But at this price point, several other options can be considered, each catering to different riding styles and preferences. Let’s take a look:
The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 can be considered a direct rival to the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V in the 200cc naked streetfighter segment. But it’s more powerful than the Apache with a 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 24.5PS and 18.74Nm. The bike has a perimeter frame, an inverted fork, and dual-channel ABS. While it lacks some of the Apache’s modern touches like ride modes, NS200 delivers well for those craving raw performance.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a retro-style roadster that brings together modern practicality with classic styling. It was recently updated with softer rear suspension, a new handlebar, more ground clearance, new colours, and an LED headlight. It’s powered by a 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 20.4PS and 27Nm. The base-spec Retro variant falls in the same price bracket as the Apache 200 4V. While not as tech-loaded as others on this list, it offers a different appeal with its relaxed cruising ethos, a thumpy exhaust note, and laid-back vibe.
If off-road capability is a priority, the Hero XPulse 200 4V is a solid alternative to the RTR 200. With long-travel suspension at both ends, 220mm of ground clearance, and a 199cc engine producing 19.1PS and 17.35Nm, it’s a lightweight dual-sport bike built for the road less travelled on. It also features a digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. While it doesn’t match the Apache 200 in outright performance or tech, it’s a winner for adventure-seeking riders.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the sportiest scooters available in India, sharing its 155cc ‘VVA’ (Variable Valve Actuation) engine with the Yamaha R15 V4 and MT-15, delivering 15PS and 13.9Nm. It’s one of the rare maxi-scooters in India with a sporty and muscular design, underbone frame, and large 14-inch wheels. The Aerox offers a unique blend of performance and practicality, and the segment is slowly gaining more traction in the country. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, a digital instrument console, and dual-channel ABS. It’s not a motorcycle, but for city-focused riders who want a fun and fast scooter, it’s a bang on choice.
For those leaning toward electrification, the Ather 450X offers a radically different riding experience. The mid-variant packs a 3.7kWh battery with a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 161km and delivers 22Nm. It comes with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen instrument console, built-in Google maps navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and over-the-air updates. It is one of the most fun to ride electric scooters. Its performance and acceleration in the Warp ride mode can help it keep up with most sub-200cc bikes.
Which of these two-wheelers would you pick over the 2025 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V? Let us know in the comment section below.
