And it’ll be using the Dominar 400’s engine

Just over a week after we first reported about it, more details about the upcoming 400cc Pulsar have surfaced online.

Reports suggest that it could be called the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 and it’ll use the Bajaj Dominar 400’s 373.3cc liquid-cooled engine, which makes 40PS and 35Nm. While Bajaj made the engine with KTM, the brand has used it in the Dominar 400 only. Hence putting it in the Pulsar series can help boost their business with an already tried-and-tested engine. More importantly, using the 390 Duke's 399cc engine would make it a fair bit more expensive. So, using the Dominar's engine would help Bajaj price it a lot better.

And as its name suggests, it’ll be based on the Pulsar NS200’s perimeter chassis and that’s a good thing, for the NS is an excellent handler. That said, there will obviously be revisions in the chassis to accommodate the larger engine. What we hope this will bring are major weight savings. After all, the Dominar 400’s biggest issue was its 193kg kerb weight.

Its design, too, could be on the lines of the NS200. While the NS200 is no doubt a good-looking bike, its design has stayed virtually unchanged for over a decade – so it looks a bit dated – and it would be fair to expect Bajaj to make some revisions.  And along with that, Bajaj could even throw in Bluetooth connectivity and some features. The bike should be here sometime in early 2024 and we expect Bajaj to price it under the Dominar 400, which currently costs Rs 2,29,781 (ex-showroom Delhi).
