Toyota Glanza G Smart Hybrid: Road Test

When Toyota decided to make a rebadged Baleno, it got us all very excited. Hell, we even had a sexy render in place for what it might look like. But boy, were we disappointed when the Glanza came out with absolutely no differences. Are we still disappointed after driving it? No.

  • Q. Hi Guys, I'm planning to buy a car in Mumbai and have drilled down my car choices to either Toyota Glanza(G CVT) or Maruti Nexa Baleno(Zeta CVT), both being the same car except for the branding. Now I am more inclined towards Glanza and here's why:
1. Better Price: Glanza G-CVT will cost me 9.5L including accessories worth 10K and extended warranty worth 12K. The similar model Zeta-CVT of Baleno is costing me 9.95L including accessories worth 20K and extended warranty worth 15K. 2. Better warranty: Glanza is offering 3 years/100000kms while Baleno is offering 2 years/40000kmsNow I your help with few questions so I can better decide which one I should go for:1. Given that I'd be buying the car in the Oct'20 which is towards the end of the year, which car would give me better resale value if I plan to sell it after say 3-5 years?
2. The sales team of Baleno claimed that you can achieve 12-13kms/ltr of mileage in Mumbai traffic. I am buying the car in Mumbai. How true is that given that I am buying the automatic version of the car? I am assuming I'd get the same mileage for Glanza as well.3. Is it worth taking the extended warranty for additional 2-3 years?4. Which brand has a better after sales support and service ?
Thanks in advance guys!

Both Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza are more or less the same premium hatches. Now, as for the resale value, it would be unfair to give any verdict here as it would depend on certain factors such as physical condition of the vehicle, popularity of the model, kilometers driven, etc. For additional peace of mind, Baleno buyers can get a total 5year/1 lakh km warranty, while Toyota will let you extend it to 2.20 lakh km. Additionally, Toyota also offers a free three-year RSA (roadside assistance) facility with Glanza. All these additional after sales services and more affordable pricing makes the Toyota Glanza a better pick in our books. Moreover, the Glanza is powered by the same powertrain as found in the Baleno and the mileage can be expected to be the same as well.

  • Q. Please give me a suggestion. I am planing to buy Baleno Alpha model in April, is it good to buy? The car contains K12B ordinary engine. Is there any chance of getting trouble after 9-10 years after buying or we should wait for Glanza? Kindly help me.

If engine is same as balani, and body stiffness is same as balani, then don't go for glanza

First time Toyota customer. The buying process was really good from Amana Toyota. The car is good with respect to space, comfort. The biggest pain in CVT is very low mileage in both city and highway. I get 8kmpl in city and 12kmpl in highway however carefully I drive. Got to check with Toyota in the 2nd service since I have clocked 5000kms now. Hope the issue gets sorted.

I have not owned the Toyota Glanza but had experienced this car through a test drive. Styling and comfort are great on the car and there are absolutely no complaints about the car. The seats of the car feel very wider and offers great comfort despite being a small car. Rear cabin does not feel claustrophobic which is appreciable. The build quality is something that can be better in order to justify the Toyota badge as Toyota was safe and should remain safe. Interior quality is not very extraordinary and there are hard plastics. As a co-passenger, I noticed that the Chassis was light and there was a little bit bounciness which makes it feel being lighter. In terms of engine performance, the car did a great job due to less weight. According to my final verdict, I would say that this is better for short distances with families but not for highways or enthusiastic driving.

Toyota glanza more commonly known as the rebadged baleno.Well it's ok to get a baleno with the toyota support.A very comfortable car would never disappoint you.Performance is more than enough for daily city commute and occasional highway trips.Only downside is the mileage i get in city is not that great around 10 but on the highway i get 20.Other problems include the ground clearance problem some how i keep hitting it down to the speed breakers and yeah it's a pretty bad build quality, Just for a small crash the car gets damaged badly.Make a wise choice before getting this, Consider the other cars in the market now!🙂.

The first question is why should you buy a glanza over a baleno then 1st. Cheaper (g hybrid and g variant ) 2nd lesser waiting period ,rest the car on its own is spacious, comfortable, fuel efficient, good for city runabout and the maintenance thanks to toyota e-60 service and app you get the exact amount you have to spend on the servicing of the car Tried to keep it short and simple hope should help
