  • Q. I Am planning to buy Tata nexon. How about the mileage and services of Tata?

@ Ishaan | Same here, man! I own XMA petrol and have done about 1600KM now. The performance improved a bit after the first service (checkup) but it seems like the mileage has taken a further hit. I've been observing the same mileage i.e. ~7KM/L. And this is extremely disappointing. I can't even blame the gearbox because I drive in manual mode so I can shift when I want to. I usually shift at about 2K RPM. Now another problem is that since it isn't a high capacity engine performing duty in a heavy car, the dependency on the turbocharger is high. Now to work around the turbo lag, one needs to put the foot down to get a quick move on.So, this is like a vicious circle Nexon Petrol owners have gotten caught in. I believe and desperately hope Tata fixes this issue, as this definitely will affect the owners.

I hav clocked 4005 km in my odo.. done with 2 services (checkups) and still i am getting around 6.5kms. i havent driven in triptonic mode.. but i believe it will give around 7 km if u change gear at ur will.

Nexon is one the best car in its segment performance is best and mileage is 16-18 kmpl for petrol and 20-22kmpl for diesel. I would suggest you to go for petrol version. Nexon performance power comfort looks are awesome.

  • Q. I booked a tata nexon xza+ petrol.Because my running is very low which is around 500 km. hardly in a month. but my main concern is about the mileage it will return. please let me know the mileage of the amt petrol in city. Thankyou

@ Sanjay | Oh really. Why do the service center accept my claim of liw mileage in city, they agree if i druve in andheri east every day the average fuel consumption will be between 6-8kms only. Please teach usbhow to drive in marol, saki naka area with 15kms /p/l.We will be highly obliged. My maruti used to give me 12 in city and 20 on highway, even ecosport gave about 8 in city & 18 on highway, nexon on highway gives 18. But the faults are a concern not the mileage.

The things is you are misleading others by just telling then the mileage you are getting in traffic not only traffic its called extreme traffic in andheri. You are talking about Maruti, Do Maruti have that power like Tata car. No they don't have in that price range. If you drive and avoid driving on Half clutch in extreme traffic then drive it in eco mode you will get 9-12 kmpl easily. Why are you telling only the mileage when you are driving in extreme traffic. You must have told them the mileage in every different condition like you did in reply that you are getting 18kmpl on highway. My Tata cars are very perfectly working. and I have other cars in my family like Suzuki Honda Toyota but Tata is performing better than other except the Mileage because Honda is giving me 25 kmpl but its diesel and its cost is 11.7lakhs so as per the price Tata cars are not bad in performance power comfortable drive and long drives and amazing ground clearance. Even I have a Tata Indica petrol 15 years old and still its performance is very good and I am getting 12kmpl in city and 15kmpl on highway.

  • Q. I have a Tata Nexon XZA+ AMT Petrol, 4 months old and total driven upto 3800kms till date. The problem I am facing is of the mileage which is extremely low. In daily city driving, where I drive 15 km in 1 hour, I am getting an average of 6.3 kmpl in city mode. Will my mileage increase after the car is done 5000 to 6000 km or not?

Dont go with the Odometer reading it shows anything. Please check the mileage with litres of fuel like fill 10 litres when the low fuel indication appears and than check how much it runs till the low fuel indication appear again. My car is giving 15-18kmpl after first service. Not having any issues.Drive your car on economy mode when you are driving in city please avoid driving on half clutch. you will definitely see change in mileage. If this doesn't work then please consult the service centre and tell them about the problem.

I have an automatic petrol. Also i took out mileage by tank full to tank full method and 6.3 kmpl(240 km in 1 full tank of 40 liter approx) is what the result was. My drive is mostly in city (mumbai) where i can drive 15 to 16 km per hour mostly in gear 1,2 and 3.. What is your drive like ? How much km per hour do you drive to get mileage of 15 to 18..

  • Q. I am planning to buy Nexon diesel AMT car. But my friend already bought it. He get only 12 kmpl mileage. Anybody get better fuel efficiency for Nexon automatic diesel
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 8 months ago

At the initial level, you will not get good mileage figures as a new car takes time to accustom - the Engine, Piston, Fuel Lines all takes time to lubricate and initial mileage will be low. It generally takes up to 800 to 1000 kms for your car started to offer better mileage. While at around 4000 - 5000 kms distance when covered, mileage will be at its best and will stabilize which even gets better on oil change at 7500 - 10,000 kms.In order to improve the mileage, we would suggest you drive slower. Driving fast can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 33% if you are travelling above 60 mph. It is best to change gears appropriately and match the gear and the RPM carefully. You have to be careful when going to the tuner. Make sure the tuning is just to keep your engine running at the proper revs to provide maximum fuel efficiency. Changing the fuel filter on a regular basis will ensure that your car runs smoothly by letting only fuel into the engine instead of other residues from the tank and a clean air filter promotes better combustion which optimizes fuel economy. The tire pressure should be checked at least monthly because properly inflated tires can improve fuel efficiency by up to 3%. Turning off the air conditioner in city driving reduces stress on your engine which increases fuel economy greatly. Whether you use synthetic of natural oil, using an additive can improve fuel efficiency by up to 15%. You can keep these things in mind while maintaining your car.

My Nexon AMT gives me 9 Kms average in Cochin City (the worst road in the country) and in state highways 14 to 17. So I am sure in good roads Nexon give 14-16 Kms. Earlier I was using Swift and used to get 12-15 in Cochin city ride and 17-18 in state highways. Yes diesel is much better in fuel efficiency, one of my friends use Nexon Diesel and he says it is one of the best diesel engines compared to same range cars in market.

  • Q. I have to buy a vehicle for ocassional touring. Suggest me between Nexon petrol and diesel. The mileage of petrol seems very poor and engine seems weak. Please suggest me the right vehicle you can suggest me another vehicles suitable to me.
    Ishaan
    Ishaan | 1 week ago

I drive an XMA Petrol and I'm quite satisfied with it as far as highway touring is concerned. It returns about 13-14kmpl (tested) mileage (I expect it to increase after 2nd service). You can expect 8kmpl in bad city driving conditions (like Bangalore). Trust me, even a petrol i20 returns about 10-11 in these conditions. But like you said, you need it for occasional touring, I'd say you shouldn't rule out the petrol. It's engine runs fine. Stay in the range of 1700+rpm and you'll be delighted by the refinement levels. But to get quick move ons, you'll have to work the gears. I drive in manual mode so it doesn't rid you of the fun too.Now let's check some math. You'll be spending a little over 1lac extra for the diesel. Taking your usage into consideration, you will probably not be doing more than a 1000km a month. Then considering the mileage of both the diesel and petrol, you'll be saving roughly ₹3.8/km as running cost (not considering maintenance costs). So, going by this, by the time you recover the extra cost, you would have run your car for about 30K km, which is roughly about 3 years. So, for you, it makes sense to for the petrol version. However, you should choose the diesel of you're a driving enthusiast and your running is going to be more than 1500km a month.Nexon is a brilliant package and you won't go wrong with it.Hope this helps! Cheers!

Brother Tata Nexon is Perfect for this. Petrol version didn't have poor mileage I am getting 15-18kmpl. its just that people are not understanding the 3 driving modes in the car, if anyone drive on sports mode in city traffic then it will definitely give poor mileage. Mileage depends on your driving style I will recommend you this car because comfort in long rides and rough and Xtreme bad road is very good in this and an amazing ground clearance of 209mm and a powerful engine.

  • Q. Is any actual mileage difference in Nexon petrol manual and amt. Which one to be buy as economic and comfortable.
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 1 year ago

The claimed ARAI mileage of Tata Nexon Petrol is 17.0 kmpl (manual) whereas, the claimed ARAI mileage for the automatic Tata Nexon Petrol is 17.0 kmpl. Although, we have tested its manual transmission as of now. And the following results we get in our road test, the Nexon petrol returned 14.03 kmpl in the city and 17.88 kmpl on the highway. Coming to another query, if you'll be driving more in heavy city traffic then we suggest you to opt for Automated Manual Transmission(AMT) which are easier to use and more comfortable for the driver, while Manual Transmission vehicles are less expensive more involved & are more fun to drive on highways.
