  • Q. What is more reliable in the long run manual transmission or automatic in Skoda?
    Zigwheels | 3 months ago

If you are more of a person who travels around on the highways, the manual transmission would be more reliable as it has a very simple mechanism as compared to the automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is generally preferred in the city premises where the traffic makes it annoying for a driver to shift gears rapidly. The reliability of the gearbox also depends on the driving style, maintenance and the driving conditions of the vehicle.

Have lived on automatics since 2009. Can’t even think of manual ride since. Manual is a no no in my take.

  • Q. I am thinking of buying a Skoda Octavia L and K model (Petrol AT). Is it a reliable car or still having breakdown issues and engine problems?
    Zigwheels | 2 months ago

The car is now offered with a refined engine and linear performance. The 7 speed DSG transmission is a delight to the driver in terms of performance, intelligence and responsive. Skoda's 2.0-litre diesel motor feels as smooth as ever and offers brisk acceleration along with excellent throttle response. The engine is a bit noisy though, with the clatter typical of diesel engines. However, we would suggest you take a test drive of the car so that you may get an idea regarding the comfort, features and drive quality of the car.Click here for the dealership: https://www.zigwheels.com/dealers/Skoda

  • Q. How is the automatic gear as compared to similar car brands?
    Zigwheels | 8 months ago

It comes mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox as before. The 1.8-litre petrol version has always been the better driver's car and is a hoot to drive with its performance and the responses from the 7-speed DSG transmission. The abundance of space and plush ride quality are the highlights of the Octavia as before, with the latter not compromising handling or driving pleasure. The steering offers good feel and feedback too, while feeling perfectly weighted, which adds to the joy of driving the car. While the diesel version is a good handler no doubt, the petrol version handles even better, thanks to its independent rear suspension that also offers a slightly better ride. Do take a test drive in order to judge your driving comfort.

It comes only in manual version! If you are a mileage concious person, you can go for it! It will definitely be less powerful than the 1.8 Tsi! And you will not have the DSG Auto!

  • Q. Is the low ground clearance of Skoda Octavia a genuine problem on Indian roads. I mostly drive in the city but do come across huge speed bumps that are not properly designed.
    Zigwheels | 2 months ago

As the car gets a 110mm ground clearance, you may face a few hindrances on the Indian bumpy roads and potholes. The car is really low and requires more of a flat road.
