A friend told me on a slope/climb the Celerio stops functioning in the Auto gear and then its like manual gear please explain.

Celerio has never given problems in slopes or hilly drives. I have been using my Celerio AMT for past 5 years and really enjoying the drives whether its plain highways or ghats. In fact I found Celerio AMT more convenient for ramps and slopes because there's no manual clutch/manual gears to handle.

I was driving celerio vxi amt from sep 2015 and i had driven it for 46000. i never had issue with amt wile driving in 'ghat' area.

It wont give you problem but you may find some pickup manual gets better pickup ...

Never purchase, Such a problematic car, You never drive confidently as it can stop any time & you have to bring maruti authorise workshop, You have to wait for minimum 8 weeks for repair, The company it self non availability of spare parts such a super bogus car maruti produce really 100 % unsatisfaction costly car
