Honda City Car Latest Updates

We’ve detailed the Honda City’s base SV variant, the most accessible variant of the sedan. It was introduced with the facelift and helps bring down the price of the new City compared with its predecessor. It misses out on many distinguishing exterior features and trim bits present in the top-spec City, but gets a decent kit for infotainment and safety.

Earlier, Honda had launched the facelifted fifth-generation City with prices starting from Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The updated compact sedan gets a price bump of up to Rs 50,000.

The facelift brings minor updates to the styling, a new exterior hue, while features like ADAS have been borrowed from the City Hybrid. It continues with the existing 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, but the 1.5-litre diesel unit has been chucked from the lineup. The engine has been updated to meet the upcoming more stringent RDE emission norms.

Honda City Engine

The facelifted City gets the same 121PS, 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to a six-speed manual and an optional CVT transmission. It is accompanied by a 126PS, 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain paired to an e-CVT transmission. The 100PS 1.5-litre diesel engine has been skipped due to less takers and the more stringent upcoming emission norms. Both powertrains have been updated to pass the upcoming stringent RDE emission norms.

Honda City Variants

The City petrol is offered in four trims: SV, V, VX, and ZX.

The City Hybrid is offered in two trims: V and ZX.

Exterior hue options include six shades: Obsidian Blue Pearl (New), Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic

Honda City Features

The facelifted City carries all the equipment offered in the outgoing sedan, which packed an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (now wireless), a sunroof and connected car technology. Features like wireless phone charging and rain sensing wipers have been added to the sedan’s features list alongside ADAS features, which were previously limited to the Hybrid variant. Other safety features include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, rearview camera, and electronic stability control.

Honda City Competitors

The facelifted Honda City continues to compete with the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying City

Q. Is Honda City worth buying?
  • Selecting the vehicle would depend on several factors such as your budget preference on the segment, features required, engine options, brand preference, etc. On the outside Honda has made some cosmetic changes to help the City look more sporty and aggressive than before. Up front, you get a more pronounced honeycomb grille and the chrome strip above it is now slimmer and isn't as in-your-face as the old car. The chiseled new front bumper looks sporty and you also get a faux carbon fiber finish on the chin which although not genuine, doesn’t look tacky. The full LED headlamps remain unchanged and ADAS variants also come with an auto-high beam which helps avoid blinding oncoming traffic. With the update, the Honda City won’t be available with a diesel engine anymore. So, you get two petrol engine options, the first of which is powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine making 121PS of power and mated to either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic. The second one is the strong-hybrid which, overall with the electric motor and the internal combustion engine, makes 126PS. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test drive before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your city accordingly for dealership details.
  • Definitely , just go for it !
Q. What are the engine specifications of the Honda City?
  • The facelifted City uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the pre-facelift model, making 121PS/145Nm. This unit is paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-step CVT.Here are the claimed mileage figures:1.5-litre MT: 17.8kmpl1.5-litre CVT: 18.4kmpl
Q. What is the minimum down payment for the Honda City?
  • In general, the down payment remains in between 20%-30% of the on-road price of the vehicle, and ROI varies between 9.25-11.5% and it totally depends on the CIBIL/Credit score of an individual. So, we'd suggest you walk into the nearest dealership to know the final finance quotation and documentation as they will be the better person to assist you. You may click on the given link and select your city accordingly for the nearest authorized dealership details.

Q. What is the minimum down payment for the Honda City?
  • If you are planning to buy a new bike on finance, then generally, a 10 to 30 percent down payment is required on the on-road price of a bike. However, exact confirmation regarding EMI, down payment, interest, loan period, and its procedure will be discussed by the bank only, as it depends upon individual eligibility.
