The 160cc naked looks pretty similar to the Bajaj Pulsar N250, albeit with a few crucial changes

(UPDATE: Bajaj has launched the Bajaj Pulsar N160 in India, head here to read the launch story.)

  • The Bajaj Pulsar N160 will be powered by a new 160cc engine based on the Pulsar N250’s heart.
  • Runs on slightly lower-spec underpinnings compared to the N250.
  • Launch likely in July 2022.

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 has been spotted testing in Pune. This 160cc streetfighter will be the successor to the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, and is based on the all-new Pulsar N250’s platform.

A fleeting look will make you realise the motorcycle looks pretty similar to the Pulsar N250 as it gets similar body panels. The headlight cowl looks similar to the quarter-litre naked, and it comes with a projector headlight with LED DRLs as well. The indicators are bulbs, whereas the taillight is LED. The high-set tail section is complemented by a contoured split-seat setup. This, coupled with the single-piece handlebar, should ensure comfortable, upright ergonomics.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 side profile

The bike is built on the same chassis as the 250cc Pulsars, so it gets the same frame, telescopic front fork, and a rear monoshock. Nestling inside the chassis is the all-new air-cooled 160cc engine based on the quarter-litre Pulsar’s heart. Expect the N160’s engine to also be torque-rich, making it perfect for the streets. It will likely make similar output as the Pulsar NS160, which produces 17.2PS and 14.6Nm. The new engine even comes with a kick starter - something that's not very common these days.

The bike seems to be using slightly lower-spec underpinnings as the front and rear MRF tyres look skinnier. One can also see the ABS ring on the front and rear discs, although it is likely to have a single-channel unit.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 rear profile

Bajaj might probably keep the bike at a more affordable price point or on par with the Pulsar NS160’s price, which is Rs 1,21,754 (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the upcoming Pulsar N160 to cost around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). It is likely to be launched in July this year, and will go up against the Hero Xtreme 160R, Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3.0, Suzuki Gixxer and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
