As the Indian motorcycle industry gradually bounces back from the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re slowly starting to see more and more bikes and scooters being launched. The month of August saw quite a few interesting and important launches, and you can check them out here. Now, we turn our attention forwards and bring you all the two-wheeler launches expected in September:
Royal Enfield Meteor 350
Hero already updated the popular XPulse 200 to comply with the latest emission norms some time ago. Since its cousins, the XPulse 200T and Xtreme 200S, are powered by the same 200cc engine, we expect them to become BS6-compliant quite soon as well, perhaps in September itself.
BMW G 310 Twins
Most of TVS' lineup has already been upgraded to comply with BS6 emission norms, but the Victor still remains. We suspect this is because the Victor isn't going to be a simple fuel-injection update but rather it will grow in displacement from 110cc to 125cc. We hope to see TVS' re-entry into the 125cc commuter segment sometime this month.
Suzuki V-Strom 650XT
As we slide further up the displacement scale, we come to TVS' former partner Suzuki and its V-Strom 650XT which is long overdue an emissions update. The bike was shown in BS6-compliant form way back in February at the Expo and has been listed as ‘Coming Soon’ on Suzuki's website for many a month now. We hope September will finally bring an end to our wait.
Honda CBR1000RR-R
Having got the Hornet 2.0 out of the way, Honda can now turn all its attention to the big daddy, its flagship litre-class superbike. The CBR1000RR-R is on the verge of an India launch and we expect it to arrive on our shores sometime in the next few weeks. For a crash course in how to make the BMW S 1000 RR seem like excellent value for money, check out the incoming Fireblade's pricing here.
BMW R 18
Though probably not quite as expensive as the Blade, another premium and globally revered bike that will debut in India this month is the grand BMW R 18 cruiser, complete with the largest air-cooled boxer twin engine that the Bavarian brand has ever made. We expect a price tag in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 22 lakh.
Ducati Multistrada 950
August saw Ducati bring in its first BS6-compliant bike in the form of the sexy but expensive Panigale V2, and we expect September to be the month when the second one arrives. The model in question is most likely the Multistrada 950, which should arrive at a price point of around Rs 13 lakh.
