The Tiger Explorer is the flagship adventure tourer bike from Triumph for the Indian market

Triumph Tiger Explorer

Triumph has launched its new flagship adventure motorcycle, the Tiger Explorer XCx at  Rs 18.75 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The Tiger Explorer is available in 8 variants in the international market. There are four XR variants which get alloy wheels and four XC variants which get off-road-friendly spoke wheels. Though the XCx is one of the lower variants it is by no means a barebones one, in fact in India it comes with a long list of features and rider aids. It comes with spoked wheels for when you want to step off the tarmac, adjustable traction control and switchable ABS and three riding modes (Road, Off-Road and Rain). Triumph has also fitted its flagship with the new TSAS or the Triumph Semi Automatic Suspension system that adjusts the damping on the suspension automatically according to the terrain and riding style of the rider. It also comes with cornering optimised traction control and ABS for better cornering. It also features cruise control, heated grips, electrically adjustable flyscreen and a new LCD display.  Triumph claims the bike now handles better thanks to a lower handlebar seat distance and a sharper head angle.

The British bike maker already has a strong foothold in the adventure bike category with a wide range of Tiger motorcycles at various price points. The Explorer sits at the top with the bigger a 1215cc engine. This 3-cylinder motor makes 139PS of power at 9300rpm and 123Nm of torque at 6200rpm. That's an increase of 2PS and 2Nm while also meeting the stricter BS-IV emission norms. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and features four different throttle maps for different riding modes and better individualisation of the bike for the rider. Triumph is also offering over 50 accessories for the flagship Tiger which include panniers and side bags. An arrow exhaust is also available as a part of the accessories kit and helps shed 2.3kg of mass while bumping up the power by 3PS.  The Tiger Explorer competes against the BMW R 1200 GS, Ducati Multistrada 1200 and the Honda Africa Twin.
