The Japanese bike maker has teased the arrival of the bike on its Indian website

  • Suzuki showed off the BS6-compliant bike at Auto Expo 2020.
  • Engine outputs are likely to take a hit.
  • There were no visual updates to the bike shown at the expo.
  • Suzuki has tasted some success with the V-Strom 650XT in India. The mid-displacement adventure tourer has been selling in healthy numbers. Given that it is a popular model, Suzuki didn’t want to wait around for the Euro 5 version, taking it off the shelves in 2020 in India. The Japanese bike maker showcased the V-Strom 650XT BS6 at Auto Expo 2020 and now the arrival of the motorcycle has been teased on the company’s official website.

In terms of design there isn’t anything new to be found on the ADV. It is expected to arrive with the same colours as before: yellow/black and white/blue. Suzuki could bring in the new black/blue paint scheme that was launched on the global-spec 2020 model though.

There is still little clarity on the output figures of the BS6-compliant 645cc V-twin motor. In its BS4 guise, the mill used to produce 71PS and 62.3Nm. Expect marginal drop in performance as well as a slight increase in kerb weight of the motorcycle.

In September 2019, Suzuki had launched an Adventure variant of the XT in certain global markets. This new variant has crash protection and touring accessories as standard. Instead of the top box offered in India, this Adventure variant gets aluminium panniers as standard. The motorcycle used to feel a bit nervy with the top box at high speeds. The panniers will help distribute the load on either side, adding a bit of stability while munching miles on the highway.

After the launch of the BS6 V-Strom 650XT, Suzuki could be gearing up to bring the SV650 naked to our shores soon. We were told that Suzuki was seriously considering bringing this retro naked to our shores. The SV650 shares its motor with the V-Strom 650XT, albeit tuned differently to suit the bike’s character. Head here for more details on the naked motorcycle.
