[Update: 19/07/2018] Suzuki has launched the Burgman Street in the country. Prices and other details here.
After debuting it at this year’s Auto Expo in February, Suzuki Motorcycle India is all set to launch its premium 125cc scooter, the Burgman Street in the country tomorrow. Its European styling is derived from the famed Burgman lineup, and will appeal to matured buyers and young enthusiasts alike.
Notable features include an LED headlamp and tail light, apron-mounted windscreen and an all-digital console borrowed from the Gixxer range. Another neat addition is the inclusion of foot pads on the apron, which gives the rider the freedom to switch his foot position from the floorboard. While Suzuki has not officially announced the price of the scooter, it has been leaked. Here’s the pricing and cost comparison with its rivals in the segment.
The Burgman Street is based on Suzuki’s successful 125cc scooter, the Access 125. The Access-derived 124cc single-cylinder motor is good for 8.7PS at 7000rpm and 10.2Nm at 5000rpm, mated to a CVT unit. Suzuki will offer the scooter in a single variant, equipped with a front disc and a rear drum, with combined braking system. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic front forks and a single shock absorber at the rear. The Burgman also receives large 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped with tubeless tyres.
Bookings for the scooter have commenced unofficially across dealerships in the country, with token amounts ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000, depending on the dealer. The Burgman Street will lock horns with the Honda Grazia, Honda Activa 125, Vespa LX 125, TVS NTorq and the Aprilia SR 125.
