Gets a 12-inch rear wheel and a silent start system for the high premium

Suzuki has launched the Burgman Street EX in India. This comes shortly after the Japanese marque released a teaser about treating fans to ‘something special’.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

And something special this is… well the price tag, at least. The Suzuki Burgman Street EX is priced at Rs 1,12,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). That is a premium of a whopping Rs 19,000 over the Ride Connect variant and Rs 22,400 over the standard variant. That is quite EX-pensive.

The Burgman Street EX goes up against the likes of the TVS NTorq 125, Yamaha Fascino 125, Aprilia SXR 125 and Honda Activa 125.

What’s New?

You might be expecting quite a lot of changes for such a premium. But the reality is that the only main difference between the EX and other variants is a larger 12-inch rear wheel wrapped with a chunkier tyre, which should offer better stability along with the existing 12-incher at the front.

Adding to the update is a new auto start-stop system, silent starter system and tweaks to the engine to make it more refined and fuel-efficient. The Burgman Street EX also has a 25mm longer wheelbase than the other variants, while also gaining 1kg weight.

Also, the 124cc engine produces 8.6PS at 6500rpm and 10Nm at 5500rpm. This is 0.1PS less power at 250rpm lower when compared to the other variants of the Burgman Street.

Buyers also get a new range of colourways to choose from – Metallic Royal Bronze, Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte Platinum Silver No 2. To be honest, these colours look rather mature and conservative.

What’s Unchanged?

The Suzuki Burgman Street EX retains all the features from the Ride Connect variant including a digital console, smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Even the styling remains unchanged, with the scooter continuing to sport a beefy maxi-scooter look.

What Should Have Changed?

While the upgrades on the Suzuki Burgman EX are mainly mechanical, Suzuki could have equipped this maxi-scooter with more functional and visual upgrades like an external fuel filler cap along with more youthful colours.

ZigSays

With Suzuki claiming that the new Burgman Street EX gets more fuel-efficient, the steep premium in the price does throw its accessibility quotient out of the window. We thought that the TVS NTorq 125 XT was expensive for a 125cc scooter without any special gains, but now the Burgman Street EX takes that crown hands down.
