Looks like a flat-tracker, rides like a corner carver!

Triumph Tracker 400 Review In Images: Fun, Fast And Different

The Triumph Tracker 400 is one of those motorcycles that makes you stop and stare. With its flat-track-inspired styling, racing number plate on the rear panels, twin-barrel exhaust and block-pattern tyres, it looks like it's ready to spend weekends sliding around dirt ovals. But once you throw a leg over it, you realise this isn't a dirt bike pretending to be a roadster. It's a sporty street motorcycle with a distinct personality.

A Smooth Operator

Built around Triumph's new 349cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, the Tracker produces 40PS and 32Nm, making it the most powerful motorcycle in the brand's revised 350cc lineup, alongside the Thruxton 400. The motor is smooth, refined and tractable, making city riding effortless. It cruises comfortably at highway speeds too, although riders familiar with the old 400cc engine may miss its stronger mid-range punch. Expect a real-world mileage of around 30kmpl.

It Tips & It Turns!

The biggest talking point, though, is the way it handles. Compared to the Speed 400, the Tracker gets slightly longer suspension travel and a shorter wheelbase, making it feel sharper and more eager to change direction. The wide handlebar and sporty riding posture encourage an aggressive riding style, while the surprisingly grippy block-pattern MRF tyres inspire confidence, even in the wet.

Triumph Tracker 400 Handling

A Sporty Ride

The suspension is set up on the firmer side, prioritising cornering ability over outright comfort. That's great on smooth roads and twisty sections, but broken city roads remind you that this isn't a motorcycle designed with comfort as its first priority.

All Basics Covered

Feature-wise, it gets all-LED lighting, a semi-digital console (which is the same as the other Triumph 400s), dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control. We do wish Triumph had also allowed riders to switch off rear ABS, which would have suited the Tracker's playful character better.

Build quality is exactly what you'd expect from a Triumph bike. Paint finish, switchgear and overall fit-and-finish feel properly premium, helping the Tracker stand apart from most rivals.

ZigSays

At Rs 2.46 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tracker 400 occupies a niche space. For a few thousand Rupees more, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 offers more performance and versatility, and for a few thousand less, the Speed 400 remains the more practical everyday choice. But if your heart wants something distinctive, stylish and genuinely entertaining on a winding road, the Tracker 400 delivers an experience that's refreshingly different.
