Bajaj Auto confirms all motorcycles produced in the last decade are fully E20-ready.
Warranty coverage on these motorcycles remains valid when using the new E20 petrol blend.
A marginal drop in fuel efficiency is possible, but Bajaj states riding style has a greater effect.
The company cites its success with even higher E27 ethanol blends in the Brazilian market as proof.
As fuel stations across the country have made the mandatory switch to petrol blended with 20% ethanol (E20), a key question for millions of two-wheeler owners has been compatibility. Bajaj Auto has moved to address this directly, stating that its motorcycles, including popular ranges like the Pulsar, Dominar, and Avenger: manufactured over the last 10 years are engineered to run on E20 fuel without any issues.

Bajaj Auto has stated that rigorous work by its R&D team ensures all of its bikes manufactured in the last ten years are fully compatible with E20 fuel.
In an official statement, the brand has confirmed that its entire portfolio is prepared for the new fuel standard. This covers not only its own branded models like the Pulsar, Dominar, and Avenger but also the KTM and Triumph motorcycles it manufactures in India. The company clarified that this compatibility is the result of dedicated engineering work conducted over time. For existing owners, the good news is that vehicle’s warranty terms will not be affected by the use of E20 petrol, addressing a primary concern about potential long-term engine damage.

Bajaj Auto also noted that existing owners may experience a marginal drop in fuel efficiency with E20, but that riding conditions and maintenance have a greater influence on mileage.
The brand also acknowledged that the chemical properties of ethanol can lead to a slight reduction in fuel efficiency. However, the company has put this into perspective for riders. It asserts that real-world factors such as individual riding style, traffic conditions, tyre pressure, and regular maintenance schedules have a much more significant impact on the final kmpl figure than the switch from regular petrol to E20. The message to owners is that while a small change is possible, it is unlikely to be the dominant factor in their motorcycle's overall running costs.

Bajaj highlighted its operations in Brazil, where petrol contains around 27 percent ethanol, as evidence of long-term component and engine reliability.
To back its compatibility claims, Bajaj pointed to its international experience, specifically in Brazil. The country has been using petrol with a high ethanol content for decades, thanks to its Proálcool programme that started in 1975, backed by the country’s abundant sugarcane production. Today, standard petrol in Brazil contains around 27 percent ethanol (E27). Bajaj entered the Brazilian market in 2022 and says it has not received any product complaints related to fuel compatibility since then. The company says this real-world experience with a higher ethanol blend validates the robustness of its engine technology.
According to Sumeet Narang, President of Central Marketing at Bajaj Auto Ltd., the same engineering expertise used for Brazil's E27 fuel has been applied to motorcycles made for India.
The core takeaway for owners of Bajaj, KTM, and Triumph motorcycles made in the last decade is one of reassurance. No retrofits, component changes, or special maintenance procedures are required to use E20 petrol. The manufacturer's statement is designed to eliminate uncertainty as the new fuel becomes the standard offering at pumps nationwide. Owners can continue to operate their motorcycles as normal, with the full backing of their original vehicle warranty.
