With just two days to go for the launch of the Suzuki Burgman Street (July 19), dealers across Pune have revealed the price of the maxi-styled scooter. At Rs 82,250 (on-road Pune), the Burgman Street is set to become one of the most expensive 125cc scooters in the country. Suzuki dealerships have already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 5,000.
Let’s take a look at how the Burgman Street compares against other 125cc scooters in terms of pricing: All prices On-road Pune.
Vespa LX 125 - Rs 85,320
Aprilia SR 125 - Rs 78,150
Honda Grazia (disc, alloy) - Rs 77,585
Honda Activa 125 (disc, alloy) - Rs 77,157
TVS NTorq 125 - Rs 75,900
The hefty pricing can be attributed to the Burgman Street being marketed as a more premium scooter than Suzuki’s bread-and-butter model, the Access. With a styling that apes the bigger Burgman 650 sold in Europe, the 125cc scooter packs some interesting features like all-LED headlamps, an all-digital instrument cluster, an LED tail lamp and a generous amount of underseat storage. Not to mention, the scooter also sports an imposing look with a bulbous front apron and a bulky design.
Powering the scooter is the same 124.33cc engine seen on the Access 125. This motor makes 8.7PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque. It uses telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking is handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the rear along with Suzuki's Combined Braking System (CBS) as standard.
