Suzuki unveiled the Burgman Street at the Auto Expo 2018 today with the intention of raising the benchmark in the 125cc segment in India. The scooter was spied only recently and it’s here to take on the likes of the recently launched Honda Grazia, which has been receiving quite a good response from the market. We are expecting the new Suzuki Burgman Street to be priced at Rs 60,000 - Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Burgman Street showcases a maxi-scooter-like styling with a large windscreen up front and split LED headlamps. While this isn’t an outright maxi-scooter, it does look larger than the Honda Grazia. Much like the outright maxi-scooters seen internationally, the Burgman Street too gets a chunky and exposed handlebar while the headlamp mounted on the front apron comes with an LED unit. The all-digital instrument console is placed on the front apron and sits in between the handlebar and the windscreen. The floorboard space seems ample enough to place your baggage and gets a hook under the seat to mount small bags.

In typical maxi-scooter style, the rider seat section is slightly tapered down whereas the pillion seat section seems broad enough for comfort. The rear consists of a single piece grab rail and a single unit consisting of an LED taillight and side indicators.

Powering the Suzuki Burgman Street is the same 124cc, air-cooled unit as the Access 125 that produces 8.7PS at 7000rpm, with peak torque of 10.2 Nm kicking in at 5000rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT.

To iron out bad roads, the Suzuki Burgman Street gets telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the rear. Unlike the Access 125, both wheels on the Burgman Street receives 12-inch wheels. Braking is managed by an optional disc brake at the front while the drum unit at the rear is standard.

Going by the standards set by the Suzuki Access 125, we can’t wait to get our hands on the Suzuki Burgman Street. So, stay tuned till we bring you a more detailed report on this spanking new scooter. Once launched, it will rival against the Honda Grazia, the TVS Ntorq 125 and the upcoming Aprilia SR 125
