Kia Motors India has announced a service action campaign for the diesel variants of the Seltos over a faulty fuel pump. The affected models have been manufactured between October 1, 2019, and March 15, 2020. Owners of the affected vehicles will be asked to bring their car for inspection and if required, the faulty part will be replaced free of cost.
A spokesperson at Kia said, "At Kia Motors, we follow a regular practice of upgrading products. Based on the feedback received from customers and various sources, necessary improvements are made keeping customers in mind. For vehicles already on road, a communication/guideline is released to the dealers with details of the inspection process and repairs to be carried out. The recent communication involves inspection of the fuel pump and in case of any observation, the dealer is required to carry out repair/replacement as the case may be. We haven’t announced a recall, it is basically a Service Action Campaign being done on Kia cars to ensure our customers do not face any inconvenience."
A faulty fuel pump can result in excessive vibration, poor pick up or the vehicle refusing to start. If you’ve faced any of these problems with your Seltos diesel, we suggest you contact your nearest Kia service centre. The Seltos’ 1.5-litre diesel develops 115PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Owners of the Verna and Sonet diesel-automatic, which utilise the Seltos’ 1.5-litre diesel engine, need not worry as these vehicles were launched post March 15, 2020. We are awaiting an official statement from Kia on this matter.
The Seltos, priced between Rs 9.89 lakh and Rs 17.34 lakh (ex-showroom), is one of Kia’s successful models in the Indian market. The diesel variants are priced between Rs 10.34 lakh and Rs 17.34 lakh. It’s one of the top selling models in its segment after the Hyundai Creta. The Seltos can also be had with either a 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It rivals the Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500, and Hyundai Creta.
