Round 3 of the TVS Young Media Racer Program was the final chapter of the season, and TVS made sure it was a memorable one. Just when things felt familiar, the bar was raised with the introduction of the race-spec Apache RTR 310. More importantly, this marked a turning point for the YMRP as a whole. From here on out, the RTR 310 replaces the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V across all categories: media, rookie, and women.
The Upgraded Ride
Based on the 2025 TVS Apache RTR 310, the race version has a free-flow exhaust, an ECU remap pushing output up by roughly 10% (38-39PS vs 35.6PS stock), and a 12kg weight reduction. Suspension remains stock with only rear preload adjustment, Eurogrip Protorq Extreme HR tyres, and of course – no rider aids. TVS’ pro-riders had clocked lap times in the 1:59 (1 min 59 seconds) range during tests, making it clear just how much potential this platform had.

Time Away From the Track
What made this final round especially demanding wasn’t just adapting to a new, faster bike – it was the season itself. The selection round ran in May 2025, followed by Race 1 in June, Race 2 in September, and finally Race 3 in January 2026. Long gaps meant broken momentum and limited continuity. Each round felt like I was restarting the learning process from zero.
A Glimpse Of What Was Possible
Despite the layoff, practice was encouraging. The RTR 310 felt stable, predictable, and surprisingly approachable when ridden smoothly. I logged a 2:20.995, my quickest lap of the season yet.

Momentum Interrupted
Qualifying didn’t go as planned. Cooler conditions meant a cold track, tyres that took time to come into their element, and I wasn’t pushing. On my third lap I crashed, cutting the session short. This by default placed me 10th on the grid – dead last – cause only ten riders were competing this time.
I managed a 2:23.646, slower than practice, but the feeling on the bike told a different story. Even at that pace, I somehow felt faster – like I was carrying more corner speed, braking later, and trusting the bike more than before.

The Season Ends
Race day finally delivered clarity. Over six laps, I rode calmer and more confidently than I had all season. The result was a best race lap of 2:19.234, my fastest lap across all three rounds. I finished 9th, moving up one position only because a rider crashed, so nothing to brag about. The front runners, for context, were circulating in the 2:08-2:13 lap times – underlining the experience gap across the field. With the season wrapped up, I’ve finished 13th overall in the Media category.
My Takeaways
I started riding only four years ago, and like most self-taught riders, I learned some things the wrong way first. So, for me, it was about un-learning things rather than being the fastest – finding out why I was slow. Braking later, carrying corner speed, trusting the front – concepts I once misunderstood are finally clicking.

The progress came from fixing habits, not making excuses. What I couldn’t do earlier, I’m doing now. So while 13th place won’t make headlines, it marks a real shift: quicker laps, better understanding, and a foundation that finally feels solid. I’m ending the season clearer, sharper, and ready for what’s next.
