The plucky Japanese upstart that gave ‘purebred’ supercars a run for their money has been showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Nissan GT-R, known for its performance both in a straight line and around corners, took pride of place at Nissan’s stall, just as it had done for the last couple of Expos.
The Nissan GT-R comes with a 3.8-litre engine that will make 550PS of peak power and 612Nm of peak torque. Mated to the engine is a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox which in turn is mated to an all-wheel-drive layout. The GT-R gets from 0-100kmph in under 3.5 seconds putting it in the same league as a lot more expensive supercars and hypercars.
In the past, although the Nissan GT-R has never officially been sold in India, it has always been a popular supercar with the elite. Almost 50 cars have been imported independently with most cars getting a bunch of add-on aftermarket parts to make them even faster than they already are. Previous famous owners of the legendary supercar include Sachin Tendulkar with other international sportsmen like Usain Bolt also being brand ambassadors for it in the international markets.
