Yamaha has launched the much-awaited XSR155 and the FZ-Rave in India
The bikemaker has also unveiled the Aerox-E and the EC-06 electric scooters in India
Price of the electric scooters will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2026
Yamaha has launched not one, but two new bikes for the Indian market! The blue bikemaker has launched the neo-retro XSR155 and the FZ-Rave. Yamaha has also unveiled the sporty Aerox-E and the urban-friendly EC-06 electric in India. Here’s all you need to know about them:
Price: Rs 1,49,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

The Yamaha XSR155 has finally been launched in India. The much-awaited bike aims to tap into the popular “neo-retro” wave, and after a lot of dreams, hopes and prayers, the motorcycle has finally made its way to our shores.
It shares the same heart as the Yamaha R15 and the MT-15, a 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine delivering 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. The bike features a six-speed manual gearbox and has the same Deltabox frame as its siblings along with a ground clearance of 170mm. It gets a circular LCD instrument console, while safety features include dual-channel ABS and traction control.
The XSR155 is offered in four colour options: Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic and Metallic Blue. It can be had with two accessory packages: Scrambler and Café Racer. Scrambler kit gives you a small windscreen, bar-end mirrors, a racing number plate at the side (which is hopefully customizable), a radiator guard and a tail-tidy. The Cafe Racer kit has a proper cafe racer fairing, a single piece seat with a hump on the rear, lever guards and a radiator guard. The prices of the kits are yet unknown.
For Indian riders, this means a retro aesthetic yet genuinely sporty character, ideal for those who want classic styling but don’t want to compromise on performance as well as fuel efficiency.
Price: Rs 1,17,218 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

The FZ series has long been a strong performer in Yamaha India’s lineup, and the new Rave iteration keeps the familiar formula: a refined commuter with comfortable ergonomics and a proven 149cc engine, paired with modern features.
While the engine and underpinnings remain unchanged, the bike does get a refreshed design in the form of a new LED headlight (that looks quite similar to the now-discontinued FZ-25), 2 colours (Matte Titan and Metallic Black) and a single-piece seat. The move is a smart one: keep what works, upgrade what matters.
Expected Price: Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom)

Perhaps the most attention-grabbing is the EC-06, an electric scooter built on the same platform as the River Indie EV. It gets the same 4kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 160km (3km less than the River).
The EC-06 has a peak motor output of 6.7kW, and three riding modes with a dedicated reverse mode. What this means: Yamaha is targeting urban riders who want performance beyond a typical electric commuter scooter while still being practical, as it has a 24.5-litre underseat storage capacity.
That said, it is the styling of the Yamaha EC-06 which will allow it to stand out in a sea of mass-market scooters . Since it is based on the Indie, it carries the same silhouette, but Yamaha has tinkered with the design quite a bit. The most prominent change is the headlight design, followed by the slimmer tail section. It gets a twin-pod vertically-stacked headlight unit, which we think looks quite good.
Expected Price: Rs 2.90 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Aerox Electric is a completely new electric scooter built from the ground up specifically for India. It’s positioned as a premium performance EV that blends Yamaha’s racing DNA with next-gen electric tech.
The electric Aerox gets two 3kWh detachable batteries, which have a claimed range of 106km. It makes 9.4kW of peak power and a massive 46Nm. It gets three riding modes: Eco, Standard and Power, and an additional ‘Boost’ mode which should increase the performance temporarily. It has disc brakes at both ends along with single-channel ABS. Its other features include a TFT console.
Design-wise, it carries the sharp, aggressive styling of the Aerox. Muscular panels, bold LED lighting, and wide tyres, but with an all-electric powertrain. Expected to get a high price tag, the scooter targets performance-seeking urban riders who have heavy wallets and want something which will not only scream attention but will also walk the talk.

With these launches, Yamaha has made its intentions clear. The XSR155 brings heritage, the FZ-Rave continues its mass-market stronghold, and the Aerox-E, along with the EC-06, signals the brand’s confident entry into India’s fast-evolving electric landscape. This diverse strategy should allow Yamaha to cater to both purists who love the smell of petrol and a new generation of riders who are ready to plug in and go.
For Indian enthusiasts, this is a dream-come-true kind of day. Yamaha’s 2025 lineup represents not just new models but a sign of transformation. The brand’s legacy of performance and reliability now has something to show for it. From catering to what the enthusiasts actually wanted to launching its first electric two-wheelers, Yamaha is not just adapting to the market; it’s setting the pace for it. That said, would one be too greedy to ask for the Ténéré 700 as well?
