TVS Motor Company recently conducted an earnings call. K N Radhakrishnan, CEO, Executive Director, and Jayaraji, Vice President, Research and Development, gave insights into the brand’s financial performance as well as a hint at what’s coming. Also, TVS has been awarded financial benefits by the Indian government under the PLI (production-linked incentive) based on its recent market performance.
For starters, TVS says it has more electric two-wheelers in the final stages of development and could be launched somewhere between July and September this year. While there’s no confirmation on the exact models, we expect two new variants of the TVS iQube electric scooters. The first one will be a sub-Rs 1 lakh variant, based on the current entry-level iQube, but have even lesser features to make it more affordable. The other could possibly be the production version of the TVS iQube ST Concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2025. This should be in direct co-relation with the aforementioned PLI benefits. If the manufacturer has to continue receiving benefits, it needs to have products that consistently have market performance, and as a result a positive impact on the brand’s revenue. This should also result in new two-wheelers by 2026. The first one from this should be the much-awaited adventure bike, the TVS RTX 300 which was recently-spotted on test being ridden by Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director, TVS Motor Company.
It was also announced that Norton’s new motorcycle could make its debut in early 2026. TVS-owned Norton Motorcycles has been reportedly working on a couple of new motorcycles, most-likely in the sub-500cc and 600-650cc categories. The latter could still be in very nascent stages of development. The sub-500cc platform could be built around the 300cc RT-XD4 engine. Now here’s why we think so.
The Norton Commando 961 has an air and oil-cooled engine, except that it's a 961cc twin. This gives it modest output figures of about 78PS and 81Nm. The upcoming entry-level Norton bike should also have modest performance, maybe on the lines of the Hero Mavrick or the Harley-Davidson X440. But all of that is purely speculative right now and the actual performance could be quite different. So take that with a pinch of salt.
Coming back to the on-sale TVS scooters, the brand is planning to expand the availability of the iQube. Currently, it’s on sale in 950 TVS dealerships, and the brand is planning to increase this number.
All the information conveyed in the call, pertaining to the launches, should be an indication of what to expect, rather than a hard deadline. There are a lot of market factors at play, and the brand should be convinced that it’s the right time to launch a product. All said, we are quite eager to see its adventure bike, which we hope happens soon.
