Great news for Yamaha fan boys ! The Japanese brand has revised the pricing of its motorcycles in India, in accordance with the new GST 2.0 tax cut. With GST on motorcycles under 350cc dropping from 28% to 18%, bringing home a Yamahabike has become much more affordable. Here’s a look at the top 5 Yamaha bikes that have seen the biggest price reductions:

The Yamaha R3 has been available in India since 2015, first as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) model, then it got discontinued and later it was launched again as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). With the latest GST 2.0 price revision, it has become noticeably more affordable in the parallel-twin 300cc segment. Interestingly, it now costs slightly less than the previous BS6 version launched in 2021. While the price drop makes it more attractive, the R3 could still use some modern updates and features to stay competitive in today’s market.

The Yamaha MT-03 is a fine looking Japanese streetfighter, with a minimalistic yet striking design. The only ace up its sleeve, though, has been the tried and tested 321cc parallel-twin motor. In terms of overall features and tech, the MT-03 lags behind its rivals by miles. Hence, it sits as a good naked option for those who want an aspirational Yamaha, but Team Orange still offers a lot more for a lot less.

The Yamaha R15 series is India’s most popular and successful sport bike. Over the years, its sharp design, even sharper handling and engaging performance has made it a perfect beginner bike for sport riders. It comes loaded with features like dual-channel ABS, switchable traction control, quickshifter and riding modes.With the top of the line M variant being available for almost Rs 17,000 less, it makes bringing home the fanciest R15 a lot less taxing on the wallet.

With the same heart as the Yamaha R15, the MT-15 V2 offers a blend of peppy performance and upright ergonomics, better for all-round riding. The Japanese manufacturer recently updated this lightweight streetfighter with a 5-inch TFT console and some exciting new paint schemes, making it a lot more desirable than before. With the new GST 2.0 rate cut in effect, the MT-15 is now available at Rs 5,000 less than the KTM 160 Duke.

Even with the GST 2.0 rate cut, Yamaha’s neo-retro commuter motorcycle is quite expensive for what it offers and the price tag is still quite high. That said, with a mild-hybrid system added to the already fuel efficient and refined 150cc motor, the FZ-X Hybrid is capable of returning a mileage of around 60kmpl (tested). This coupled with the feature loaded TFT console, makes the FZ-X Hybrid a tempting option to consider.
