The R3 is FINALLY expected to be cheaper than its biggest rival, the KTM RC390, after GST 2.0 is enforced

Yamaha R3, MT-03, R15 V4, MT-15, Aerox 155 Version S: Top 5 Yamaha Bikes With Biggest Price Drop Due To GST Cuts

The Government of India’s new GST 2.0 rules will cut the tax rate on two-wheelers under 350cc from 28% to 18%. Yamaha, with a strong lineup of sporty motorcycles and scooters all under 350cc, has confirmed that it will pass on the full benefits of this tax revision to its customers starting September 22, 2025. Here are the top 5 Yamaha models that will receive the biggest price cuts after GST 2.0 comes into effect, based on our internal calculations (for the R3 and MT-03) and Yamaha’s official price list for the rest of the models:

R3

Expected Price Drop: Rs 28,117

Yamaha R3

The Yamaha R3, the most premium motorcycle in Yamaha’s sub-350cc portfolio, is expected to get the biggest price cut under GST 2.0. With its current ex-showroom price standing at Rs 3,59,900, the new effective price should come down by around Rs 28,117 to about Rs 3,31,783. For a twin-cylinder sports bike that already has a reputation for refinement and agility, this price reduction will make the R3 a lot more accessible to enthusiasts looking for a middleweight supersport. In fact, the Yamaha R3’s revised price will undercut its biggest rival, the KTM RC390 by around Rs 13,000! Parallel-twin Japanese goodness at affordable pricing? Take our money already!

MT-03

Expected Price Drop: Rs 27,335

Yamaha MT-03

The Yamaha MT-03 is also expected to benefit from GST 2.0. While the motorcycle is currently priced at Rs 3,49,900, the price cut should result in a drop of around Rs 27,335, making the ex-showroom price Rs 3,22,564. This will make the MT-03 a tempting choice for riders who prefer a naked twin-cylinder machine that balances everyday usability with thrilling performance. Interestingly, it will still be expensive (by around Rs 5,000) after the GST 2.0-related price hike of its chief rival, the KTM 390 Duke.

Do note that according to Yamaha, the price drop due to GST 2.0 will be “up to Rs 30,000” for the 300cc twins, so the final price may vary. You’ll get a better idea once Yamaha announces the revised pricing for both bikes once GST comes into effect.

R15 V4

Price Drop: Rs 17,581

Yamaha R15 V4

India’s favourite entry-level supersport, the Yamaha R15, is also set to become more affordable. Currently priced at Rs 2,12,020 for the top variant, the bike will see a cut of Rs 17,581, dropping the new effective price to Rs 1,94,439. With its aggressive styling, loads of features, and peppy engine, the R15 continues to be a top pick for younger riders, and with the amount saved, you can invest it on riding gear which will come in handy when you’re pushing the limits of the bike.

MT-15 V2.0

Price Drop: Rs 14,964

Yamaha MT-15 V2.0

The Yamaha MT-15, the naked sibling of the R15, will get cheaper by Rs 15,000. At present, it retails for Rs 1,80,500 for the top-end variant, and the new effective price will be Rs 1,65,536. Known for its sharp styling, lightweight dynamics and punchy engine, the MT-15 is already one of the most popular streetfighters in its class, and the upcoming price cut makes it even harder to ignore.

Aerox 155 Version S

Price Drop: Rs 12,753

Yamaha Aerox 155 Version S

The Aerox 155, Yamaha’s sporty maxi-scooter, will see its price come down by Rs 12,753. From the current Rs 1,53,890, the ex-showroom price will reduce to Rs 1,41,137. That’d make the Aerox just around Rs 12,000 more expensive than its launch price back in 2021.

With the same liquid-cooled VVA engine as the R15, the Aerox is already India’s most powerful  scooter sub-Rs 2 lakh mark, and with this price cut, it’s bound to attract even more scooter enthusiasts who crave speed and style, but in a practical scooter package.

So, if you’ve been planning to bring home a Yamaha, waiting a little longer could save you up to Rs 28,000. Apart from riding gear, you can also spend the savings on accessories or even fuel for your next adventure. Do note that these are ex-showroom Delhi prices.
