It’s no secret that Hero is working on an electric motorcycle, expected to be called the Vida VXZ, and the bike was also spotted testing a while back. But what if we told you that the upcoming electric bike could have an American cousin sharing almost everything underneath?
Recent patent filings from American electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero Motorcycles have revealed a new model that appears to be closely related to the Vida VXZ. While the two bikes look completely different on the outside, the documents suggest they share the same platform, making them mechanical twins.

Ai-based render on what the design patent could actually look like
The upcoming Zero motorcycle, previously teased as the Lompico concept, uses the same steel trellis frame, battery pack, electric motor, suspension setup, wheels, brakes and TFT console as the Vida VXZ. Even several smaller components appear to be identical.
This isn't entirely surprising. Hero MotoCorp invested USD 60 million in Zero Motorcycles in 2023, and the latest patents offer the clearest evidence yet of how closely the two companies are working together.
While the Vida VXZ is expected to feature a more conventional streetfighter-inspired design, the Zero takes a much bolder approach. It gets futuristic bodywork, a single cyclops-like headlight and aerodynamic channels integrated into the side panels, giving it a distinctive identity of its own.
The styling is a far cry from the Hero, proving that platform sharing doesn't necessarily mean identical-looking motorcycles.

Zero has already confirmed an output of around 40PS for the new motorcycle, and reports suggest it could use an 8.8kWh battery pack. The Vida VXZ is expected to feature the same hardware.
For Indian buyers, this partnership could be particularly significant. Hero's manufacturing expertise could help bring advanced electric motorcycle technology to the market at a more accessible price point. There's also a possibility that both motorcycles could eventually roll out from the same factory in India.
Whether the Zero electric bike arrives in India remains uncertain, but its Hero-developed cousin is expected to hit the Indian streets as early as next February 2027.
