It will be launched soon and rival the Hero Xpulse 210

Bajaj has been working on a dual-sport bike, which has been spotted a couple of times. It has been called the upcoming Bajaj Adventure bike, but that’s a bit of a misnomer. It’s quite clear from all the spyshots that it will be a dual-sport bike, like the Hero Xpulse 210, and could be quite a capable one.

Properly Equipped Dual-Sport, Not Adventure

According to our sources, the bike is being developed primarily for Latin American markets. These countries have a consistent demand for low-capacity, cost-effective dual-sport models that can handle varied road conditions – like the Honda NXR 150 Bros, and even the Hero Xpulse 200.

While it will have bespoke hardware as such, the only thing that Bajaj could pick up from its existing bikes is the 250cc air-oil-cooled engine from the N250. That engine has a strong mid-range punch in the naked bike, but Bajaj could retune it to better match the dual-sport nature. Furthering its off-road-ready credentials will be long travel suspension that should allow for a generous ground clearance. The bike will get a 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel setup, both spoked. It should even have dual-purpose tyres to match the format.

Complementing this will be a decent spread of features: a TFT display with phone connectivity and navigation, a USB charging port, switchable dual-channel ABS, and riding modes.

All of the equipment it gets will be with the aim of making the bike ready for almost every kind of road, or the lack of it altogether.

A New Identity

Bajaj ADV

The upcoming dual-sport/adventure bike will be a part of an entirely new sub-brand from Bajaj – this was confirmed earlier in an investor call by the brand. We think it could be the Trekker – a name trademarked already in 2024. The name has a rugged appeal to it and should suit the nature of the bike. It should also help Bajaj differentiate it from its current crop of bikes.

Bajaj has already burnt its fingers with the Pulsar AS200 – a road-biased ADV based on the NS200. Giving the dual sport a new identity will help Bajaj set more appropriate expectations from the bike .

The Bajaj Trekker is expected to be launched in India, around the festive season. It could be priced under Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing strategy would place it in direct competition with the anticipated Hero Xpulse 210, heating up the segment in the country.
