Hero Xpulse 421

The upcoming Hero XPulse 421 was recently spotted testing at Ladakh. The test mule ran heavy camouflage, yet several production-ready components were clearly visible. Currently, in the sub-500cc adventure segment, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure are the benchmarks with which the Xpulse 421 will compete.

The test mule was heavily camouflaged but looked production-ready. Alongside this test bike was the upcoming Hero Xpulse 210 Pro and the brand’s Dakar rally machine. That said, the sighting of the Xpulse 421 confirms key hardware and feature details:

Powerful 421cc Engine

Hero Xpulse 421

It is going to use an all-new 421cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Hero is expected to keep the power output at around 45PS, and it will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Other than this, it may also get a bidirectional quickshifter as an option. At 45PS, the Xpulse 421 should easily be able to match all of its primary competitors, and also sit well above Hero's current lineup in terms of performance.

Purpose-Built Adventure Design

The test bike was seen with a purpose-built ADV frame and underpinnings. Up front, there was an inverted fork, and at the rear a linked monoshock, both long-travel. The fork appears to be non-adjustable, which also points out that Hero could add adjustability in the Pro or Rally version. Also, there was a tall windscreen, handguards, a metal bash plate, and a rear luggage rack, all of which complete the adventure-touring stance.

Highly Capable Off-Road Hardware

The Xpulse 421 is expected to carry a full off-road hardware package. The test mule had a large 21-inch front wheel, and a 17-inch rear wheel, both shod with dual-purpose tyres. There were also Petal discs at both ends, and a radially mounted front brake caliper. It also had serrated metal foot pegs, and an upswept exhaust round off the kit. Other than this, switchable ABS, and traction control should make this bike a very capable off-roader.

Loaded with Tech and Features

The test bike was also seen with a large TFT display, which is expected to support wireless Bluetooth pairing, turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts, and much more. The bike should also come with multiple ride modes, and rider aids. As Hero MotoCorp has introduced Cruise control even in its smaller capacity commuters, the Xpulse 421 is expected to have it as well. Along with this, it had all-LED lights, a hazard light switch, and a 4-way joystick on the switchgear, mainly to toggle between the menu.

Launch Timeline

Hero Xpulse 421

Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch the Xpulse 421 in early 2027, and can unveil the bike at EICMA 2026. Its estimated ex-showroom pricing runs between Rs 2.85 lakh and Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom), while its main rivals are the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM's 390 Adventure.
