Lately, not a day passes by without a Royal Enfield bike being sighted on test. This time around, it’s the Royal Enfield Hunter 450, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450’s roadster sibling.
It’s evident that this will be a more affordable version of the Himalayan 450 as you can see the more cost-effective telescopic fork instead of the inverted ones on the adventure bike. It also rolls on road-biased tyres wrapped in alloy wheels (likely 17-inch units at both ends), reinforcing the possibility of a roadster. The mid-set footpegs, and wide, easy-to-reach handlebar also hint at a relaxed riding stance, ideal for commuting and touring.
The test mule also comes with a bunch of accessories including the massive hard case lockable top box, saddle stays, bar-end mirrors, a transparent flyscreen, and auxiliary lights mounted just below the radiator.

The motorcycle was seen comfortably cruising at triple-digit speeds, thanks to the liquid-cooled 450cc single-cylinder heart. You can read more about the motorcycle in our analysis here.
Summing up, it makes sense for Royal Enfield to develop the roadster in parallel with the adventure as the former will attract a much wider audience, and will help the Chennai-based bikemaker to grab a share of the lucrative sub-500cc naked segment currently dominated by the KTM 390 Duke. When it comes to pricing, it could undercut the Duke, likely to be priced at around Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch is still some time away, so we wouldn't be surprised if we see the bike in the first quarter of 2024. The Hunter 450 will also give Royal Enfield fangs to go up against the upcoming Triumph-Bajaj bike. If you’re keen on knowing more details about the Triumph-Bajaj bike, check this out.
