Hero MotoCorp has finally given the Destini 125 a much-deserved facelift. Here’s how different it is from the older generation:
The previous Hero Destini 125 is available in two variants: LX and Xtec. Here are the prices:
Variants |
Price (ex-showroom Delhi) |
LX |
Rs 80,048 |
X |
Rs 86,538 |
The LX variant gets four colour options: Noble Red, Panther Black, Chestnut Bronze and Pearl Silver White. The Xtec variant gets five colour options: Matt Black, Chestnut Bronze, Noble Red, Matt Ray Silver and Pearl Silver White. Both variants get an LED headlight with chrome accents. Along with that, they also get a USB charging port and an analogue speedometer with a digital inset displaying essential information such as the fuel gauge, trip metre, odometer readings, and service indicator. The differentiating factor between the two is that the Xtec variant additionally comes with Bluetooth connectivity, for call and SMS alerts.
The new 2024 Hero Destini 125 will be available in three variants: VX, ZX, and ZX+. The base VX variant gets three colour options, while the ZX and ZX+ variants offer two colour options each. The differentiating factor between the ZX and ZX+ is that the ZX+ comes with copper chrome accents. Both the ZX and ZX+ variants feature diamond-cut alloy wheels, disc brakes, and fully digital displays with Bluetooth connectivity. In contrast, the VX variant is equipped with a front drum brake, lacks a pillion backrest, and comes with a semi-digital instrument console. Since the 2024 Destini 125 has only been unveiled, we are awaiting its prices from Hero MotoCorp.
The main distinguishing factor between the old and new generations is the design. The old model has a boxy design but is quite rudimentary and needed an update as it is back from 2018 and only got minor changes since then.
The new model has a similar boxy family-scooter design language but this one is fresh and looks modern compared to the old one. At the front, it features an H-shaped DRL in the headlight cluster, and apron-mounted indicators. Moving to the back, the tail section has been redesigned and is sleeker than before. Overall, the scooter gets a premium finish throughout with bronze colour chrome highlights on the rearview mirrors, apron and body panels.
The new generation Destini 125 has got plenty of updates over the older generation. The one that stands out is the disc brake at the front offered in the 2024 Destini 125’s ZX and ZX+ variants. The base VX variant continues to come with a drum brake.
The older generation of the Destini 125 didn’t get a disc brake in any variant. This update in the new one is a big win as it would provide better braking performance than the previous-gen scooter.
The 2024 Destini 125 gets bigger 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends compared to the 10-inch alloys at both ends in the earlier model. The new-gen scooter has a new chassis, which has slightly extended the wheelbase. Previously, the Destini had a wheelbase of 1245mm, but the new model now measures 1302mm.
In terms of features, the 2024 Destini 125’s ZX and ZX+ variants have a long list of features on offer. Both variants are equipped with a fully digital instrument console that offers smartphone connectivity for call and SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. A notable addition is the auto-cancel indicators, which automatically turn off after a predetermined duration.
In comparison, the older Destini 125 lacks many features, and even the Xtec variant only includes smartphone connectivity with call/SMS alerts and misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. Overall, the 2024 Destini 125 is a significant upgrade over its predecessor in terms of features.
The 2024 Destini 125 is powered by the same 124.6cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine as its predecessor and is paired with an updated CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). This motor produces 9PS and 10.4Nm.
The 2024 Destini 125 is expected to launch in the coming days and could be priced between Rs 85,000 to Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom). Upon launch, the Destini 125 will rival other family-oriented scooters in the market like the TVS Jupiter 125, Honda Activa 125, Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and the Suzuki Access 125.
