Leaving the comfort of my desk job behind for a few days, I found myself in the vast landscape of the Rann of Kutch. Far away from my routine emails, and daily deadlines. The occasion was TVS’ Rann of Kutch event, organized in partnership with TVS and Gujarat Tourism.

TVS unveiled five striking looking machines, all with a similar theme, inspired by the unique textures and colours of the Rann. The lineup included the Apache RTR 200 4V, Apache RTR 310, Apache RR 310, and two versions of the Ronin. All these bikes looked cohesive, purposeful, and visually strong. But the main Rann of Kutch edition TVS Ronin, clearly stood apart. From a distinct colour scheme, to knobby tyres, and premium leather accessories like saddle bags, tank bags and even handgrips, it looked like a bike that had been given genuine TLC rather than just a cosmetic refresh.

Beyond the stage and spotlights, the event also offered something far more immersive: time on the road. We were taken to the stunning ‘Road to Heaven’, a stretch that truly lives up to its name. Surrounded by raw, open landscapes and an endless horizon, it’s the kind of place that reminds you why riding motorcycles is so special. The silence, the scale, and the sense of freedom are hard to put into words.

For this journey, TVS handed me the all-new Apache RTX 300. We set off early, turning it into a proper sunrise ride, and the bike felt perfectly suited to the job. In the beginning, the roads were quite bad, but the RTX 300 just glided through all the rough patches. Even while cruising on the highway, the bike felt stable, and I enjoyed the convenience of having cruise control.

The engine was also quite responsive, but the vibes were quite annoying. However, the overall beauty of my surroundings distracted me away from the irritance. When the sun came up, the Road to Heaven genuinely lived up to its name, salt water on both sides, a beautiful stretch of tarmac cutting through the middle, with flamingoes and ducks calmly going about their morning in the distance.

It was one of those rare moments where you slow down simply to take it all in. On the way back, things got a bit dusty. On rough stuff, the bike felt surprisingly easy to manage, never intimidating, even on loose sections. Overall, the Apache RTX 300 complemented my rather mediocre, off-road skills quite well. It was easy to manage, and also quite forgiving for someone who does not have much experience in terms of off-roading.

The suspension worked really well, soaking up bumps and keeping the bike quite composed, which only added to the fun. Comfortable, capable, and full of character, the ride turned into an experience I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Honestly speaking, it was the kind of break from routine that makes returning to a desk feel a little more bearable at least until the next ride calls. Ahh… hopefully soon.
