Hero MotoCorp has launched the 2024 Xtreme 160R 2V in India at a price of Rs 1,11,111 (ex-showroom), making it around Rs 10,525 cheaper than before. With the 2024 update, the bike now comes with a bunch of new features and a couple of changes to its design as well. Here’s everything you need to know.
Starting off, Now the Xtreme 160R 2V is only available in one variant, the single disc and a single colour scheme: Stealth Black. Earlier the bike was offered in 4 colour Matte Black, Pearl Silver White, Vibrant Blue & Sports Red, it also had a dual disc variant earlier but that is no longer offered.
The 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 2V gets a new Drag Race Timer, similar to the one that was added to the Xtreme 160R 4V recently. The Drag Race Timer offers 2 modes: D1 and D2. D1 measures the bike’s 0-60kmph acceleration, and D2 mode measures the bike’s quarter mile (0-402m) timing.
The seating setup has been changed, the bike now features a single piece seat with a flatter profile and lower seat height. This change will likely improve the seating comfort for both the rider and the pillion.
Lastly, Hero has made a few changes to the bike’s design and now it features a sleeker taillight section. The new taillight is a H-shaped unit and is quite similar to the one used on the 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V. It gives the rear a more compact profile and looks quite good.
Other than these changes, the Xtreme 160R 2V remains unchanged in terms of performance and underpinnings. The Xtreme 160R 2V is still powered by the same 163.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder 2 valve engine which outputs 15PS and 14Nm.
As for its underpinnings, the bike is suspended on a telescopic fork and monoshock. It rolls on 17-inch alloys with 100-section front and 130-section rear tubeless tyres. As the bike is now only available in the single disc variant, Braking duties are handled by a 276mm petal disc at front and a 130mm drum at the rear, with single channel ABS as standard.
With the 2024 update, the Xtreme 160R 2V has got some interesting new features and the changes to the seating should make the bike more comfortable overall. The redesigned taillight section is also a welcome change and looks quite good.
Now the bike is only offered in one variant, the single disc and comes in one colour scheme: Stealth Black. This does simplify the choices that customers are presented with and makes things easier. That said, we still wish that the dual disc variant and the wide range of colours that was offered earlier were still around.
The Xtreme 160R 2V goes up against other 160cc bikes in the 150-160cc segment such as the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V, Bajaj Pulsar N150 and the Yamaha FZ FI V3. But at the starting price of Rs 1,11,111 (ex-showroom) the Xtreme 160R 2V is able to undercut its competition by a great margin.
For perspective, the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V’s base variant which is the closest in price to the Xtreme 160R 2V comes at a starting price of Rs 1,20,420 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 9,309 higher than the Xtreme 160R 2V.
