Hero is all set to launch the 2023 Xtreme 160R with a bunch of new updates including a more powerful engine

Hero has once again teased the Xtreme 160R and the sporty bike is set to get a fresh update, including an upgraded engine. The 2023 iteration of the naked streetfighter is slated to launch on June 14 and here are all the updates it could get:

4-valve engine

In the latest teaser, Hero has revealed that the updated Xtreme 160R will feature a new 4-valve engine. So the displacement could remain the same (163cc air-cooled mill); however, the power and torque figures are likely to get a small bump and offer better performance. The current model makes 15.2PS and 14Nm. With the addition of 4-valve, the refinement could get better too.

Design

Along with an update in the powerhouse, expect a slight overhaul in the design. The Xtreme 160R is already quite sporty and sharp, but with the update, it could get even more aggressive. Additionally, the naked could also come painted in fresh new colour schemes: something sportier and snazzier. Interestingly, the engine cowl design appears to be the same as the outgoing one.

Features

Currently, the Xtreme 160R gets an LCD console with basic readouts, but that could change with this update. Similar to the XPulse twin, the upcoming Xtreme 160R could also get a digital console with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The first-in-segment all-LED lighting will remain the same.

Hardware

As per the multiple spy shots of the bike, and the latest teaser, the Xtreme 160R gets a premium USD fork instead of the telescopic units on the current ones. This should ideally result in more sophisticated damping. The rear monoshock, alloys and petal discs seem to stay the same as the current model. That said, we’d be happy if Hero offered a dual-channel ABS in this variant.

Lastly, with the updates, the prices of the Xtreme 160R could go up as well. So while the current one costs Rs 1.19 lakh onwards, the upcoming model could command a premium of around Rs 6,000. With these updates, the bike should make for a better rival to the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, the Bajaj Pulsar N160, and the Pulsar NS160.
