Benda has been a slightly obscure brand in the Indian context, largely known in its local market for sub-400cc motorcycles like the Asura 400 or the Jinjira 250. The company has now revealed its latest cruiser concept called the LF-01 Concept and boy does it look smashing. It was recently displayed at the CIMAMotor show alongside other interesting bikes.
The LF-01 Concept has a very Italian muscle cruiser feel to it. There are hints of the Ducati XDiavel but none so obvious as to call it a carbon copy. There are few striking elements on the bike. Take the headlight for instance. That unit seems like a turbine of sorts, kind of like the CB4 Interceptor Concept made by Honda a few years ago. The manufacturer says it will act as the ram-air duct on the production-spec bike.
At the heart of the motorcycle lies a 680cc inline four liquid-cooled engine that makes 97.9PS at 12,000rpm. These figures are pretty astonishing for a sportbike but unheard of on a cruiser motorcycle. The powerplant is quite a modern unit too, featuring riding aids like a slip-and-assist clutch, ride-by-wire, cruise control and dual-channel ABS.
Benda has built the frame and the swingarm from aluminium to keep the bike’s weight in check. The LF-01 tips the scales at 215kg, which is not a lot. For comparisons sake, the Royal Enfield Himalayan now weighs 199kg after the BS6 updates and that is a single-cylinder adventure motorcycle. Another thing working in favour of the Benda cruiser is its low 695mm seat height. The forward set footpegs and pulled-back drag bars should give it a slightly sporty riding stance.
The USD fork and the monoshock are adjustable with the former getting boxy fork sleeves to protect the stanchion from natural elements. Radial calipers act upon twin discs at the front with a disc brake unit also found at the rear. You cannot miss that chunky rear end though as it possesses an incredible 310/35 - 18 rear tyre. That’s in fact larger than the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy’s unit.
The likelihood of Benda ever making it down to India is very slim. But the motorcycle makes for a very interesting idea.
