We at ZigWheels had a chance to test out the Motomax Insta Shine, a simple polish in a sponge that you can buy in most supermarkets for a price of Rs 25. Here’s what we think about it after trying it out ourselves.

Riding in India means exposing your bike to all sorts of elements, from dirt and dust to pollution in general. This leads to a situation where your bike ends up collecting dust and dirt with each ride, which results in the need for constant washing.
Insta Shine offers a solution by giving riders an easy to use sponge pre-dipped in polish. The polish adds a layer of coating on the bike’s body, which makes it look shiny and also keeps the dust and dirt away.
First, you have to wipe off all dust from your bike/scooter, ideally using a microfiber cloth. If there’s mud or sticky debris on your bike, it’s preferred to get it washed, and thoroughly dry the bike before starting the polishing process.
After that it is as simple as taking out the sponge from the packet and wiping the polish across the vehicle’s body.

But it is important to note that the polish gives the surfaces a glossy finish and it is advisable not to use it on non-glossy surfaces or on bikes/scooters which have a matte finish on the body as it can ruin the texture.
This is a big let down as it limits the polish’s application to just vehicles that come with a glossy finish.

After wiping the body with the sponge, take a dry cloth and wipe off the excess polish. For testing purposes, we used Insta Shine on a Suzuki Access 125 and there was a lot of area to cover, but a single sponge was able to easily handle it, while still having a lot more polish left after we were done.
What we like about the Insta Shine is that it is quite easy to use and the low cost of each packet saves you a bit of money when compared to getting your bike/scooter polished from the washing center itself.

The polish does a pretty good job and brings back that shine which we usually see on a new bike/scooter. The good thing about it is that it can easily last for days, while also ensuring that excess dust doesn’t end up accumulating on your vehicle’s body.

I had applied the polish on my Yamaha MT-15 V2 four days ago, and over the course of that time I have ridden the bike over some really bad roads with lots of dust and dirt, but the shine has remained consistent.

But the main issue is that the polish tends to create a slightly sticky layer and doesn't dry off completely. You can easily end up getting polish on your hand, along with the dust and dirt it accumulates if you accidentally touch the coated surfaces. I had experiences where I accidentally touched my bike’s fuel tank and ended up with a mix of both polish and the dust on my fingers. This isn’t a major problem but is still a bit annoying.

The Insta Shine overall is an affordable solution to keeping your bike clean, but it has its issues like being limited just to glossy surfaces and being a bit too sticky.
But when looking at the overall picture, the Insta Shine is a simple and easy to use polish that you can apply on your bike by yourself without any hassle. The modest price it comes at makes it a real value for money proposition if you have a vehicle that has a glossy finish.
