The upcoming 350cc Triumph bike will be called the Speed 400!

2026 Triumph Speed 350 Spotted At Dealerships Ahead Of April 6 India Launch

Units of the 350cc Triumph Speed 400 have already begun arriving at dealerships, even before its official debut on April 6. At first glance, nothing seems out of place; the bike looks identical to the current model and even continues to wear the familiar ‘400’ badge. But look closer, and there’s more to this story than meets the eye.

Familiar Design, No Visible Updates

Dealer-level images reveal that the motorcycle carries forward the exact same design language as before. From the sculpted tank and minimalist body panels to the overall stance and colour options, everything appears unchanged.

Even the branding remains untouched, with the motorcycle still badged as “Speed 400”. The units spotted were finished in colours already available on the outgoing version.

This strongly hints that the Bajaj-Triumph partnership is sticking to a consistent visual identity, regardless of what’s happening under the ‘hood’. It’s a strategy we’ve seen before where the badge doesn’t necessarily reflect the exact engine displacement. (The Dominar 400 and RC 390, anyone?)

Engine Update: Downsizing For A Reason

The biggest change is under the tank. Bajaj will revise the engine, and it will dip below the 350cc mark, likely by shortening the stroke while keeping the bore unchanged. This approach allows the brand to rework displacement without overhauling the entire engine architecture.

However, a smaller engine usually means slightly lower performance. For context, the specs of the 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z and Dominar 400 leaked, and in them, we can see a drop of around 2.4PS and 1.8Nm. Expect a similar, modest reduction here as well.

That said, the other hardware, such as the 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, is likely to remain unchanged.

Expected Price

Currently, the Speed 400 starts from Rs 2,39,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the reduced engine capacity and tax benefits, the upcoming version could be priced roughly Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 lower on-road.

Interestingly, Bajaj had previously absorbed cost increases instead of passing them on to buyers. If that strategy continues, pricing could remain even more competitive than expected.

Launch Just Around The Corner

With units already at dealerships, all eyes are now on April 6. The big question remains: Will Bajaj-Triumph continue with the ‘400’ badge despite the smaller engine? We think it will.

Either way, this move could make the motorcycle even more accessible, while keeping its premium roadster appeal intact.
