The KTM 390 Duke has been updated with Cruise Control and the Crawl Feature as part of the 2025 update; it also gets a new paint scheme. This makes the bike one of the most feature-packed models in the 400cc segment. In this article, we will be going over the different features the bike has on offer.
As part of the 2025 update, KTM has given the 2025 390 Duke cruise control. This feature made its debut on the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure which was launched earlier. The addition of cruise control on the KTM 390 Duke is a welcome addition.
Riding for long durations on long straight highways can be a bit boring, and keeping the throttle engaged all the time will feel a bit tiring. Now, with the cruise control feature it will be easy. That said, since the cruise control won’t automatically disengage, riders will have to be alert at all times.
This is another which has been carried forward from the KTM 390 Adventure. This is essentially a low-rpm assist feature. The bike can crawl at low speeds in up to first three gears without having to modulate the clutch or throttle. This makes riding in traffic a much less fatiguing experience.
390 Duke’s cornering traction control (TC) is one of its best features, in our opinion. The 390 Duke is known for its manic character, which can be a hairy experience for someone who’s not acquainted with the performance.
Traction control can provide a safety net should the rider twist the throttle suddenly. TC will keep cut engine power and prevent the rear wheel from spinning out of control, and prevent a potential crash. Cornering TC will prevent the same while leaned over in a corner.
The 3 riding modes of the 390 Duke are an interesting addition. These modes are Street, Rain and Track. The Street and Track modes unleash the full power and performance of the bike, whereas the Rain mode tones down the torque delivery and adds a more aggressive ABS intervention.
Another interesting thing is, with the Track and Street mode, riders have the option to access Supermoto ABS. In theTrack mode, there’s also the option for Launch Control.
If you are one of those who will take their 390 Duke on a track, then the Launch control feature will be something you’ll absolutely love.
When you enable the launch control, the engine revs will peak at 7,000rpm with the throttle fully engaged. Once the rider releases the clutch, the bike will race ahead. This helps with getting launches right, and the rider doesn’t have to worry about holding the engine revs correctly before launching the bike. The launch control takes care of this by itself.
Versatility has been something the KTM Duke has been associated with for a while, and one of the things that really cements this is the addition of switchable rear ABS. This allows the rider to turn off ABS for the rear wheel, for controlled slides. This can also be useful when riding off the road in dirt.
Cornering ABS ensures the ABS intervention when leaned over in a corner is more gradual, as compared to when riding in a straight line. This gives the rider more control to pick up the bike from the lean, and direct where needed.
Lastly, the bike also gets a bidirectional quickshifter which allows the rider to change gears without using the clutch. This is particularly useful on a track, where it can save precious seconds required for clutching and declutching. On the streets, this becomes more of a convenience feature. KTM has improved the quickshifter on the Gen 3 390 Duke, making it much more slicker than before.
Along with these rider aids, the KTM 390 Duke also gets a 5-inch TFT console which offers essential readouts like speed, time, fuel level, odometer and trip meter readouts. Along with this, the console also offers tachometer readouts as well. The console also gets smartphone connectivity and related bits such as turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts and music control options.
Overall, with these features, the KTM 390 Duke is quite a feature-packed bike. It is powered by a 399.63cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 46PS and 39Nm. It goes up against the Yamaha MT-03 and the recently launched Aprilia Tuono 457.
