After Receiving Jolt Of Life, KTM’s New Shocker Is The E-Duke

The render of the concept, back in 2022 has finally been brought to life at the KTM museum in Austria

Spotted for the first time

Back in 2022, when the world was just recovering from the devastating impact of the pandemic, KTM’s investor presentation showed something rather electric - a small blurry rendering of the ‘KTM E-Duke’ planned for the future. Now, the concept has finally been seen for the first time in the flesh at KTM’s museum in Mattighofen, Austria, called KTM Motohall. 

Based on the video shared by KTM’s favourite ‘hooligan’ Rok Bagoros, the KTM E-Duke concept looks pretty much similar to the rendering. Kudos to KTM for carrying on with the plans after everything the brand has been through. It’s pretty clear that KTM has based the chassis off the highly capable KTM 390 Duke, the latest-generation model at that. 

Was first announced in 2022

Of course, as expected from a concept, KTM has gone a little wild with the design, complete with several ‘floating’ panels of sorts, and a seat that’s likely 3D-printed for optimum weight savings. The battery pack seems to be mounted just where the engine is supposed to be, and the electric motor seems to be positioned just below it. 

The motor’s linked to a chain drive, and the E-Duke concept also seems to have all the necessary go-fast parts including adjustable WP suspension, ByBre brakes, and slick tyres. Going by what was mentioned in the presentation in 2022, the concept bike’s heart could make a 10kW nominal power, and will use a 5.5kWh fixed battery pack. The performance should be equivalent to a 150cc petrol-powered bike, and expect a claimed range to be somewhere around 150km. The battery pack will likely be passively cooled, courtesy the ducts on top of the ‘tank’.

The electric Duke will soon be a reality

Of course, like any other electric bike, it will not have a transmission, so the clutch lever has been replaced with the brake - pretty apparent from the brake fluid reservoir. The cockpit also seems pretty minimalistic with a sleek-looking TFT console that’s seemingly borrowed from the KTM 390 Enduro R. 

All in all, the KTM E-Duke concept has all the hooligan genes of a typical Duke. That said, the production version will not be a Super Duke, but rather a newbie-friendly, fun commuter at a premium price. This pretty much mirrors Royal Enfield’s approach to the electric bike segment with the Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6. It’s still far away from production, so expect KTM to reveal something more practical at the 2026 EICMA in November 2026.
